The word prime and best is always used after a fighter gets beat.
Now Hopkins has scored his very best results since being at LHW ie Tarver, Wright, Pavlik a revenge win over Jones and a draw with current LHW champ Pascal that some think he won.
Now I know styles make fights but look at the form line, Hopkins loses twice to Taylor, who loses twice to Pavlik, yet Hopkins thrashed Pavlik. Now could this be that Hopkins is now possibly better due to being more hydrated and stronger, even if he has possibly slowed a bit with age?
If you run 10 miles everyday from 20 - 60 you have built alot of stamina over the years and your body is as tuned to doing it as it has done for years, if not better. You dont get to 50 and find it impossible that day.

Problem is America would argue all of this as Calzaghe beat Hopkins, sandwiched between Hopkins best wins of Tarver, Wright and Pavlik.

No doubt the reason of this thread is based on the fact that Hopkins nuthuggers vant accept that Calzaghe BEAT Hopkins

You have to accept Calzaghe beat Hopkins sandwiched between Hopkins best wins. You have looked at each others post and come up with the same years. So now Hopkins wasnt prime when he couldnt beat Mercado at first time of asking and now Hopkins was past his prime when breaking compubox records against Joppy in 03 . Keep telling yourselves that they were his prime years

Leave off, mate. He put on a masterclass in that fight. Bernard had Winky throwing jabs from 2 feet away and falling short, he also looked brillient on the inside with short punches and right crosses. I was at that fight, i wasn't too impressed watching it live but watching it again on TV, he looked really good.

Hey i'm not disputing that it wasn't a good win for Calzaghe. I'm one of the fair ones that had Calzaghe winning the fight. I think it was 2 points. Hopkins was still very good in '08 but still nowhere close to his prime.

Wow he broke compubox records against the ATG Joppy, stunning it really is.

It is impossible to be in your prime when you are 43+ years old.

In his last fight with Pascal, although he performed well, I thought something was missing, but couldnt quite make out what it was. The 2nd KD looked a good shot.
In truth though Hopkins has always had problems with fast 2 handed fighters his own size, ie Jones, Taylor, Calzaghe and now Pascal

nothing brilliant about that performance. he fought like a spoiler for most of the fight and struggled to get a clean shot through. both fighters looked bad in that fight

Your bias, I see it in all your posts, your nothing but Calzaghe fan, it's the reason why you bring it up all the time, you even wanted Joe to win, no matter if it was controversial or not, just so you could have something to say.

I would say between 1997 to 2004. I wish I'd be like Hopkins when I get older physically.
