Its a tough sort of list to do. On the one hand, there are guys like Ottke and Calzaghe who held titles for long periods of time without fighting many top guys. On the other hand the politics of holding onto multiple belts at once must be such a nightmare its not fair to go on that either. I prefer the list of top ten opponents a champion has beaten. In that respect Wlad does great, say what you like about the state of the division- he fights and beats the top guys regularly. That is a good champion.

 

And some titles are worth more than others. Basically this is inline with your point about quality of the opposition.

The WBA title at heavyweight (mostly at heavy, but more and more at other weights) has lost a lot of meaning. Valuev could have defended that 30 times against the Ruiz's and ancient Holyfields of the world - and it would have meant very little.

 

The WBA title has been a joke for quite a while now. But the fighter makes the belt, not the other way around :good

 

Never having been undisputed champ will hurt Klitschko.

 

I think its fair to use both Klitschkos to illustrate their domination as long as we then aknowlege that what they achieved is actually half as good as other ATGs

Yup. They are different people. Combining their record is interesting if you are talking about the niche topic of siblings in sport or something like that. Doing it without that kind of specific context makes it appear that the poster is working on the common assumption that they are basically one person.

 

There are good and bad posters from the UK but the same can definitely be said of Americans or continental europeans. Most people are biased toward their favourite fighters, I try not to be but I am sure I am just as guilty.

Difficult to compare titlsts nowadays to lineal champs in the past as we have the ABC issue now. Equally can't compare lineal either as even dominant titlists dont always get to fight for the lineal championship!
