People don't want to admit it because Mosley is so much less than he once was, but yes, I think he is still more dangerous (to Pacquiao) than Berto and Marquez because none of the three are going to beat Pac by decision, and the man with the best chance at a knockout is clearly Mosley, imo. He should be the underdog, surely, but he's the most dangerous of these proposed opponents.
Not surprised one of the House Boys Only crew is hyping the PPV fight up. It makes business sense. Doesnt mean much.
I agree w/ Merchant. SSM is past his prime but he's a true WW and he's a seasoned veteran. Underestimating SSM would be a grave mistake but I know Pac and Roach won't do that.
Mosley is going to get killed with speed, badly. He's no more dangerous than any of Pacs previous opponents.
The way I see it, he really MUST be more dangerous than Margarito, considering most would agree he's much faster even now, has similarly elite durability, is more skilled and has far more one-punch power/is the biggest puncher Pac's been put up against. I don't see how he's NOT more dangerous on those grounds, at least. Granted, he's no longer a great fighter, that I can tell, but I certainly believe he's dangerous enough to be more dangerous than the other two opponents proposed.
My opinion to this is... Marquez fight is only interesting because of how the 1st 2 fights has ended. Last fight was at Super Featherweight! Come on man, Pac has changed dramatically after he moved up. As for Berto, he may be young and hungry, but he hasn't fought any top fighters yet. A fight or two against the likes of Cotto, Margarito, Clottey, or Shane then he might be ready for Pac or even Mayweather if he has given a chance. And Shane, he might be past his prime but he has experience against elite fighters and will be willing to trade punches against Pac. Shane hasn't been knocked out and there's a reason to it.
Gotta admit my predictions are somewhat usually **** poor but i predict Mosley has got 4 rounds to make a big impact on the fight, if it goes any further Pacman will pile on the pressure while Mosley gets knackered and a beating. But for 4 rounds you have Mosley all fired up with all that skill, experience and energy.
this is what i wrote the other day in a previous thread. "Mosley is done, only die hard PAC fans will try to convince the world he isn't. Wait for people like merchant and max kellerman to start talking about how big a challenge this currently is" http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=278171&page=2
Really? Because I remember Kellerman and Lampley together being far from portraying the Margarito fight as much of anything in terms of a challenge...They pretty much were rather blunt about their opinion regarding Margarito and the title they were fighting for. So, it doesn't seem like they're quite committed to hyping up an opponent because he's Pacquiao's opponent...
he doesnt have the stamina of margarito. Thefight might be exciting for 2 maybe 3 rounds. then as mosley tires. manny will start picking him apart, leading to it being stopped. personally i'm fine with the fight happening. id rather he stayed busy than just sat there waiting for mayweather. people are massively over reacting. about pacs choice of opponents. he's keeping busy.
I can remember merchant claiming that the fight was gonna be an extremely exciting fight, giving margo a good chance.
He doesn't have the stamina of Margarito, I agree. Margo's stamina has always been superb. However, beside height that Margo doesn't use much and stamina, Shane still is a better boxer, much faster, just as durable and much more powerful. ...In short, he's more dangerous. Margarito wasn't going to out-point Pac either, so he had only one way to win-by knockout. Mosley has a much better chance at that, and I can't see how it'd be seen as otherwise. I'm not saying he has a great chance of that happening, but really, better than anyone he's fought north of 130, that I can assume and better than Berto and Marquez. :conf A lot of people found it a rather exciting fight and giving a man with that much of a size advantage just a "good chance" despite a large gap in skill isn't really an insane thing, I wouldn't think.
Nah, keeping busy is having another fight in march, he lining up a big fight for may, which suggests that this is his main fight of the year for 2011.
