Decent thread. Awful PPVs against awful opponents and awful undercards. Who would think that the highlight fight of Hayes HW assault is Ruiz coming to fight and making a fight.

Haye needs to go for a Klit or bust get it!

 

And I think Haye is making all of the concessions here to make it happen...finally!

This is a fight that no one can miss!!

The under card maybe ****, but the main event is a no miss.

I thought Hayemaker promotions put on a few decent shows for Setanta.

Based on the K1 representative-Booth discussion on Ringside it seems the only stumbling block was RTL showing the fight. Hayemaker aren't happy with that if they can find someone who can offer more. Especially if they are giving up 50% of the Sky money. However K1 said they would entertain higher offers but don't think there is any.

Haye has waited to make the fight so he can get more money but in becoming a bigger name, more politics have entered the picture.

The fight has to be made now. It's ridiculous.

Their Echo Arena card was quality...Quigley-Dodson, Gethin-Watson, Groves-Samuels and David Price pro debut.

 

Too right they did, but they had a decent stable back then.

Perhaps they could team up with some other small promoters like Steve Goodwin, Barry McGuigan, etc to put together quality TV cards.

I got return flights to liverpool for £10 which was a bargain where as a haye ppv is £15.......

Hayemaker promotions have turned into a joke. When they started out they were full of ambition and wanted to do what other promoters don't and consistently put on genuine 50/50, competitive fights whilst also improving their own stable of fighters in David Haye, Ryan Rhodes, George Groves, Tony Quigley etc. As soon as Setanta went bust, they gave up on their ideas and decided to drop their entire stable (bar Haye and Groves) and just decided to milk as much money out of David Haye's career as possible. Haye changed his plans of being the man at heavyweight and was content to just pick up an belt off the weakest champion and defend it in a few meaningless fights. I wouldn't be surprised if they put Groves in with Degale, he loses then Adam Booth drops him as well and Haye retires and that'll be it for Hayemaker promotions. A shame because when they started out it all seemed like a good idea.

 

After Setanta went bust they didn't have a TV deal and had to let their fighters go. Sky only wanted Haye himself and the fighters wanted dates. They all asked to leave and Hayemaker sensibly allowed them to. Even Groves signed with Maloney for a bit.

haye had a banging stable when setanta were around tbf. atm hayes ppv are a shambles due to a) the undercard and b) the main event normally consists of a 35+ year old opponent in a mismatch.

 

Exactly - they used to have a good stable and no complaints on the Setanta shows at all - but they were part of the Setanta subs not a PPV.

It will be interesting to see if they can secure the Groves-Degale fight through purse bids (that is if it actually goes ahead). I cannot see them outbidding Warren. And if they do - will this be a regular Saturday night card or part of a PPV package with Haye on it?

The other thing is if Haye does end up fighting a Kilt bro in Vegas - then surely there will be no place for Groves on the card - as it could possibly clash with Groves-Degale British Title fight - which presumably has to take place in the UK.

The 2010 performance of Haymaker shows is not a good omen for things to come. They dont have a stable of fighters to run good shows and unless Haye is going to fight a Klit bro next - Sky should really not be offering Hayemaker a new deal. I much prefer that the likes of Hennessy gets a deal as he has an excellent stable and a world champion who fights in real even fights.

It is likely that Hayemaker will collaborate with other small hall promoters for under cards i.e. Spencer Fearon - as what was going to happen with Groves last fight - before his opponent pulled out and he moved to the Haye-harrison card. For Groves headline bills that seems to be the way to go......

 

I don't think it makes sense for Hayemaker to buy the DeGale fight. They know they can sell a fight with just Haye.

 

I wonder what the Groves-Degale fight is worth - in terms of ballpark figures for purse bids? Surely, Hayemaker would have more money to pay with if they merged it with a Haye fight? Or, what size of venue would Groves-Degale fill in London?
