Obviously some people can take a better punch than others in boxing, but whos chin do you feel gets exagerated and said to be better than you think it is?

In some ways Holyfield. He could definitely be physically hurt and put on his ass. He just had incredible willpower. Naseem Hamed.

Evander Holyfield... for a guy with an "iron chin" he sure has been put on ***** street and floored a lot of times.

Amazing heart and fantastic conditioning though.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT I THINK ALL OF THE FOLLOWING FIGHTERS ARE ATGs.

Joe Frazier = was on the canvas too often.
Sugar Ray Robinson = everyone put this guy on the canvas.
Rocky Marciano = ex-Welterweight Archie Moore put him on the canvas.

    Jack Dempsey, Marciano, Robinson...

I think Lennox Lewis' chin is underrated. He fought in an era of enormous, powerful men who knew how to punch, not lightheavies.

    I agree with this.

A focused, well prepared Lewis could take a good amout of punishment.

who also happens to be gloved boxing's career knockout holder. I mean i'm no fan of the rock and agree his durability is overrated, but that's just dumb man.

    Lewis seldom takes punishment .

Its when he's focused and well prepared he puts himself in a position where he takes very little punishment.

It's not a credit to his chin its a credit to his ability not to get hit.

I would say Hopkins, the reason he hasn't been kd'd that much is because of his defense, but people automatically think not going down translates into having a great chin, we don't know that, it's specualtion, and to play devil's advocate, he has went down.

I agree with SRR...he was dropped and hurt a lot but to be expected when you fight that long, that many times, against that good of opposition.

His heart and recovery powers get overlooked somewhat..the man had to get himself out of some tight spots.

    I'll throw up Mosley.

Who despite never being stopped against some stellar opposition, has been closed to getting stopped a couple of times and to me seems to shell up a bit after being rocked.
You dont have to be doing the Judah chicken dance to be hurt and Shane is one guy thats pretty good had a hiding it, whilst you can see his gameplan changes quite drastically.

    Camacho.

I've seen people claim his chin is an ATG one and I'll concede it's strong but the fact he usually fought like a ***** made it look a lot better than it really was.

Compare how Chavez handled Rosario's power (not that he landed much but still) with Camacho's desperate running and obvious distress when tagged cleanly to show the difference between a "great" chin and a good one.

But top of the class must be Naseem Hamed. The guy got buzzed and dropped regularly, often by no-hopers, but because of his rubbish defence many people simply say "off-balance" and completely write off his tendency to be affected by punches and hit the deck.
