Teaching boxing in schools

Yeah i've thought about it mate. At the moment i'm hoping to work way into a fulltime role and pretty good money.

Basically work up ladder and in mean time get bits and pieces work to make it all worth my while. As i mentioned the pays pretty good and when your build up the clients you can make a decent living with out being actually full time.

Maybe one day i will head out there...i must admit i would find it hard to accept way they talk and coach game...seen some vids and the jargon they use for our beloved game is a abomination

Some referee's actually don't work but ref games though week at five a sides and on Saturday mornings and Sundays. There's money to be made in Football.

My main aim is to work way into a Academy coaching position and who knows what happen in future...it's not what you know but who you know..sadly. But things ain't to bad atm i must say...some weeks feel like jacking it in.

Tbh though i do fancy having a few fights and then becoming a trainer...i like to develop players...and have similar enthusiasm to develop boxers.

u got ur head thinking in the right way. me and my mates were out on the **** last xmads eve eve. i bumped into an old school mate who was a coach at rangers for a couple of years and he's now been in new york coaching for about 5 years. said the money was alot better but the yanks are quite far behind us. he was saying they have like 3 seasons a year all split up. can cost $1500 a season. crazy

That is Crazy.....if you ever see the video's on youtube mate...they wouldn't last five mins with kids we have here. From outfits to the jargon to the bollocks they talk. There coaching is really ''stiff'' it's like there not natural around football no matter how long they coached or played. That's why the Yank parents will pay silly money.

Yeah I work for Brentford as a scout now along with my coaching development centres there, I coached a lad at my Chelsea Kickz project he had trials with Chelsea when he was younger and recently with Spurs.

I thought this kid had bundles of ability. Left footed 14 years old, sweet left peg and 6ft with a lovely elegance on ball to go with his athletic ability, Brentford have taken him on 18 months with view to a scholar if he does the biz! if the kid doesn't make it i send him boxing seeing as he's from Cuban Stock :hey. The guy i work for at Brentford was at Arsenal for 10 years. Shaun O'Connor he brought through Whilshere and co.

I have links with scouts at other clubs before i started with Brentford in October. I had a QPR fella come watch my Saturday team and he fancied a few lads but he's now joined me at Brentford.

My mentor who got me started in coaching was a major scout in London for good 20 years he gives me the links which really helps.

I'm arranging a Showcase Tournament for 4 clubs in my area at under 16 level. 30 min games and teams play each other once and team with most points wins and scouts from different clubs in London and surrounding areas are invited to come and look at boys. It's massive for these kids as times running out.

Chelsea didn't like me joining Brentford even though my role there isn't Academy. The fella you seen on Wright's Behind Bars said i can't do both so i left as felt Brentford is a step in right direction but within a month i got call from Chelsea and now i'm back working for them as well .

 

How do you get involved in things like these?

Does it all start from simply coaching and meeting people?

1 of my best mates lil bros' is 10 i and plays for bournemouth academy. the coach said he's 1 of the best 10 year olds he's ever seen. be quality if he makes a pro altho he's got a long way to go. he's a midfeilder and is still there top scorer:yep

brentford is west london aint it....went there a few years ago. The only ground in england with a pub on each corner:good

For me it started as soon as i was chucked out of school in year 10 for bunking. The guy i mentioned in my above post guy called Sonny he saw me one day in park and asked how i was doing.

Man's a big boxing fan and watched me box as a kid and when i told him and was interested in football he said join my club as a coach we get you on level 1.

He then lent me money for my level 2 and through his references i got the work at Chelsea and the Brentford work was strange because he told me to ring a guy who just joined Brentford to scout my Striker so i rang the guy and he said can i come to your pre season session so i said yeah and he came down i had no clue he was there to watch me coach.

A week went by and then got a call asking me if i'd like to Join Brentford as a Development Centre Coach and Scout on side. I jumped at chance because Brentford are biggest spending side outside of Prem this year on Youth Development i believe.

I been coaching for a long while and must say it's a really hard industry when trying to progress you need a few helping hands because most of it's not what you know but who you know. Coaching since i was 16 and last year was my kinda breakthrough year...

 

The youth of today need to be educated in the virtues of centre right politics - the honest way.

Interesting..... what I know about football could probably be written on a *** packet, rugby is more my area of expertise, plus I know a few people that could put me on.

Definitely going to look into doing something next season.

 

Yep West London....bit different from walking to Stamford Bridge for work i must say .

Cheers Pal Appreciate it :good , I think my blessing is that i knew i was a **** footballer at 14..was a better boxer and knew that if i was going to achieve anything in football i be best to start Coaching and by that time Jose Emerged with Porto next thing i know everything man and his dog want to be a coach .

To many young lads who i coach with still harbour hopes of being spotted rather then accepting they won't make it. Stick Semi Pro but crack on with your coaching and learn!..they don't sadly.

Nice to hear that mate hope the kid sticks at it..to many lose want by 13, got a soft spot for Bournemouth and heard they develop a few talented boys. How they doing this season? Howe still there i see...glad he didn't jump ship...seems a promising British manager.
