A lot of people are being a bit absurd with stating that SRR automatically KO's mayweather in the early rounds. Its pretty obvious that a mayweather loss is the most likely outcome but SRR had went the distance with lesser fighters than mayweather. Mayweather has hardly been down in his career, yeah he was hurt by mosley but not even knocked down and recovered fast, I think its going overboard saying its pretty much guaranteed SRR stops mayweather in the early rounds. Especially given that people werent able to watch SRR at welter and that everyone that has seen him fight at welter is dead by now. And no bert sugar did not see him fight at welter, go and look at when bert sugar was born, he was too young, he talks a lot of **** like he was around then but he was born in 1937 so that puts him at 13 in 1950. He was just a kid when marciano was nearing retirement, he acts like he was ****ing there ring side.

And LaMotta weighed in at 160 while Ray weighed in at 144. It took a guy over two modern weight classes bigger to give him his first loss.

If SRR had freddie roach he wouldnt have lost. Roach would have made Lamotta come in at 147.05 pounds for the middleweight title

Mayweather would get knocked out. Robinson had super human reflexes and power, another Roy Jones. Yes he was hittable, and he had some flaws but athletically speaking I don't think Mayweather has the tools to exploit them.

I think Pacquiao would give him a much tougher fight.

Robinson was the best of his time. The 80s was a different time entirely. I don't honestly believe Robinson beats Hagler head to head without some real modern training and a vast overhaul to his technique, I have to be honest with you guys. In his favor, he fought like every month. Against that is the bum of the month concept.

He holds significant size advantages over Mayweather and Pac, but in there against Hearns, Hagler, and Sugar Ray, its really tough for me to watch Robinson's footage and just say, yeah baby, he walks all over them.

Really watch the footage of Buster Douglas and then Tyson, and tell me the truth, we all know 100% certainty Tyson beats him, and we probably feel that Tyson beats Evander Holyfield too. We can't know until we see them in the ring together. Robinson was the best of his time, and he still got beaten on bad nights. To say that LaMotta or Basilio are better than Mayweather is absurd, but to say they are much bigger is accurate. But neither of those guys is big in the way Hagler or even Hearns was.

I Agree . There's no question in my mind that boxing has evolved, but Robinson was ahead of his time. Imagine if he was around today using modern training/ techniques.

There is actually a dude who posts here that has seen Robinson fight live many times...and at welteweight.

Plus there is some film of him at 147 and even lower.

As an athlete Mayweather is like Chad Dawson while Robinson is like Roy Jones Jr.
I think Mayweather is an elite athlete but not a special athlete. I think Pacquiao is a special athlete. I think Leonard was a special athlete. I think Mosley was a special athlete. These types of athletes don't have to rely on good technique because they have so much speed and power.

Robinson had the athleticism and had good technique on top of that. His only weakness is defense.

Mosley beat DLH and only got outboxed by people more athletic than him. Prime for Prime Mosley was more athletic than Mayweather.
