HOF yes ATG no, ATG is a status earned by a select few Marquez has not reached that level yet. Make the same thread about Cotto and many would jump on the bandwagon and say yes he is an ATG and as much as a I like Cotto he along with Marquez simply are not ATG's
Certainly, JMM is one of the finest boxers of the last fifteen years. Whether that makes him an ATG (whatever the f*ck that means) I don't know. Maybe Pac and Mayweather are better, but I can't think of many other fighters of his generation more deserving of ATG status. btw, as much of a joke as the Floyd v JMM fight was, I'd love to have seen the two of them fight at 130. That would have been a real measure of things.
He is an ATG, one of the best fighters in his generation.. 3weight world champ.. Boxer can challenge past ATG in terms of skills and power..
JMM is obviously a level above Cotto, and I don't see ANYONE saying Cotto is an ATG. Cotto is an exciting fighter and a quality JWW and WW champ, but he's not on anyone's ATG list. Cotto is a maybe for the HOF. JMM is an absolute first ballot lock for the HOF. How the **** could you call yourself a boxing fan and consider yourself knowledgeable and still say crap like this?
At this point, not just yet...First ballot HOFer for sure. I love Juan but for him to be an ATG in my eyes. he has to: A: Win a title at 140. or B: Unify all the belts at 135, and beat the top contenders there, which i am confident he can do.
