I don’t know what gym you have been, but even regional amateur boxers in Finland are tough athletes.

You can’t do boxing training properly, if you are **** athlete, certainly not enough to be in world level in it.

I think you are visioning boxers some fat dudes, who stand still and punch bags, while eating tacos

you dont absolutely have to be a good athlete to be a good boxer.
    (but it definately helps)
the truth is most boxers do have world class endurance or some other measurable athletic factor weighted in their favour but toney isnt one of them. hes one of the rare fighters that can go into a ring having hardly trained and still rely on pure skill to win fights.

and if you took those amatuers from finland on a fifteen kilometre run or asked them to go flat out on the pads for half an hour they would hold up quite well.

    Toney wouldnt

actually most fighters wouldnt be able to do a 9 mile run and then do 30 mintues straight of mitt work....but toney could defintly out work all but maybe some elite level amaturers

he has all kinds of tools that are athletics...endurance..some of it built from years of training..but some of it natural..timing and reflexes...those have been dulled by age and likely neurological damange..but i promise his timing and reflexes is still better then you or I.

Much much better in boxing..what he has practiced..but even if you used some independent measure of reflexes he would score better then the fast majority of 20 year old men.

anyhow..i know grappling is a skill..but to discount toney as being non athletic is..i think..stupid...and with all due respect to jimmie...having two years of on and off BJJ and being less then 160 doesnt really jump out is being a sure fire promise of victory.

    MMA rules:

I'd throw a few leg kicks and the try to get him in a Thai plum without taking a shot. Throw him into side control, a few elbows to the brows and then start the arm locks... left arm only.

If Toney landed one shot on me i have no doubt i would not get up. A world class boxer like Toney even at this stage of his career is 100 times better than anyone on ESB.

    Sub G Match:

I would work his left arm or left left. After a short while i think James would tap...

EDIT: I weigh 220lbs BTW. I would fight him at about 200 to 205 though.

Boxing 5 Years... i stopped when i was 21 though as i needed some time off after my nose job. That was four years ago and now i train Muay Thai and Muay Boran.

I also do some JJ and Judo with one of my friends but i've never done this competatively. In the new year i will be training BJJ under Italio Ferreira as i am hoping to improve my ground game.
