lewis v tyson in their primes?

it is a blasphemy and stupid , simple.
any person with eyes can see that prime tyson was stronger and harder puncher than lewis.the videos and their records prove it. prime lewis in his 20s weighed 220-235 pounds in 6´5. prime tyson weighed 216-221 pounds in 5´11. tyson was more compact, stronger and harder puncher. lewis trained weights like a mad man in his 30s to adapt his weight to the modern hws. he never weighed 245 pounds in his prime, it was not his natural weight.prime tyson in 218-220 pounds was stronger,harder puncher ,full of adrenaline and more active, he was a ****ing slow fat when he faced lewis.

yeah no doubt i agree that tyson had more power than lewis, this fight in their prime would be such a toss up, could have gone either way...the first 2/3 rounds would have said ALOT...and eventually determine the outcome of the fight

 

The prime Tyson conundrum is one for quantum physicists really. Prime Tyson is by its very nature is a paradox.
We hear Prime Tyson was an invincible unbeatable force of nature - but when a [prime] Tyson was beaten at 23 reality become inverted and we are led to believe that, that cannot of been prime Tyson.
So in any mythical match up prime Tyson cannot lose - for the reason that prime Tyson cannot lose - therefor it wasn't prime Tyson fighting.
This way Tysonists can elevate Tysons abilities to an unlimited level without him even having to back them up.

 

Prime Tyson would KO Lewis..

 

For the most part this is crap. I'm old enough to have watched both their careers from beginning to their ends, and yes Tyson did intimate a lot of fighters, but he's not going to intimidate the class of fighter Lewis is. Nor would he intimate Holyfield, Frazier, Ali, Foreman, Liston the list goes on and on.

So he would have to actually fight to win. As to who would win, probably prior to their actual fight I would have picked Tyson. Now I know the fight itself was rather meaningless, except that in the way Lewis won. Tyson fights at midrange probably better than any fighter in history. But outside of mid range and inside, Lewis would own those battles. The inside is the most interesting, because Lewis was manhandling Tyson and throwing upper cuts, the perfect recipe to beat Tyson with, unless he's on the outside, then the Douglas fight is the blueprint. Lewis himself said that the Douglas fight was the way to beat Tyson, and from the outside I tend to agree.

Since Lewis would likely beat Douglas even in Douglas' prime, I have to think Lewis would beat Tyson either on the outside using is jab and overhand right, or on the inside wearing him down, bullying him around and landing upper cuts. That said, it would be very dangerous fight for Lewis and certainly a Tyson KO wouldn't be all that surprising. But at the end of the day, it boils down to Lewis simply being too big and having too many advantages for the much smaller Tyson to over come.

 

why are you calling holy a cruiserweight? are you trying to discredit his win or something? the former cruiserweight smoked Tysonaqnd was a better heavyweight then both Lewis and Tyson.

 

Tysons strength as a young fighter was his quickness, which was gone completely by 2003.
I think his quickness and ferocity is too much for Lewis at their respective bests.
Also Tyson had a tremendous chin and I dont see Lewis knocking him out(took him 8 rounds v a totally shot Tyson that he couldnt miss, so he's not knocking out the one who was very hard to even hit), and so even if the fight went 12, I think Tysons quickness wins him most if not all the early rounds, and so Lewis would have to really come on strong to get close on the cards.

I have begun to really respect Lewis and his accomplishments since his retirement, but Tyson in his early 20s is IMO the best Heavyweight talent ever seen.

Tyson wins this fight by TKO after 4 or 5 rounds.

 

Tyson was the softest HW boxer that ever was in contention. No chin, a total ***** in the ring, and no heart.

 

If I remember correctly from Tyson's Beyond the Glory, Tyson mauled Lewis in sparring. Tyson's prime was a short one, and it was before the Buster Douglas fight. By that time Tyson was too involved in the fast life and had given up training seriously. But a prime Tyson was one of the greatest heavyweights in boxing history, and I think would have defeated Lewis.

 

Lewis a top 10 or 15 HW ATG, Tyson is a top 3. Mike would have torn that ass up, no way Lewis keeps a prime Tyson at bay with that jab-right hand, and no way he takes Mike's punches for 12 rounds. In fact, I think Mike would get him out of there early and spectacularly unless Lewis decides to jab and grab and survive.

 

Right after saying Lewis would beat Tyson on the inside, you could have stopped this post. In fact, you should have probably stopped posting entirely and forever, because nothing else you say after this will be taken seriously by anyone ever again.

 

Have to agree as thats what I see happening. A 19yr old Tyson who does everything fast (head movement, stalking, punching) and with the power in all his punches...a prime Lewis would be forced to tie Mike up alot and eventually getting KO'd.

 

Lennox Lewis was prime throughout his career. Tyson was completely shot and incredibly overweight when he fought Lennox.

Prime 1988 Tyson would have walked through Lennox like a knife through butter. He was too fast and agile and it was just too hard to dodge his hooks.

 

Lennox made a "career" out of fighting great fighters when they were past their prime. First he hid in England, and when the best fighters were clearly past their prime, he came to America to fight them. I'm talking about Tony Tucker (who had become an overweight cocaine addict), Evander Holyfield (an old man) and Mike Tyson (just physically shot and fat).

Even Oliver McCall was mentally shot when he fought Lewis the 2nd time. But prime McCall stopped Lennox in 5 minutes.

 

True about Lennox fighting past prime opponents. Just vs. Tyson prime or past prime doesn't apply. Even the primest Tyson can't do anything if Lennox uses his trademark uppercuts in mid-range and grab'n lean in close range that would completely neutralize any offensive Tyson could mount.
