Depends which Toney shows up, mostly. He'd have to step on the gas a little more than he liked to, but he had the talent to do it when he could find the will.

Possibly. The thing is - we know that Toney lost those fights.

Saying Joe would lose is purely hypothetical. He might have, he might not have. I certainly cant see him losing the type of fights that Toney did.

A hypothetical loss is not as bad as a real one. Even if you think it is a highly likely hypothetical loss, it is not as bad as one that 100% happened.

Frank Warren Tend sto spoon feed his champions...Look at Hameds WBO reign .....before leaving Warren.

Look at Degale amazingly getting a Top 10 WBO ranking

Anyone who knows boxing that the WBO - is the WARREN BOXING ORGANISATION.

Also not how Weak the Supermiddle division was during Calzaghes WBO reign.

Marcus Beyer, Ottke, ...I mean Jeff LAcy was Calzaghes defining fight...that should say it all...Considering Lacy was lucky not to get KOD by Sheika in the previous fight....tells u it all lately.

True, but at the same time, I'd doubt that he'd manage to go even with or lose to Thadzki, Tiberi, Johnson, Sanderline, Williams, McGroom, Griffin, etc. I also believe he can do better than lose ever single of the 12 rounds he'd fight against Jones, even if that was a SICK opponent who might beat any 168'er in the history of boxing..

I'd pick Joe Calzaghe. As good as Toney was, he'd get outworked. Close UD for Calzaghe.

In his prime definately Toney. He uses his defense well and lands with good right hands to stun Calzaghe to win a good 12 rd points.Calzaghe has never really been tested throughout his career, certainly earlier fights although Mikkel Kessler did prove a good test.Chris Eubank was past it unlike he was against Micheal Watson,Henry Warton and Nigel Benn.Toney would also hold wins against Eubank and Benn and thats very difficult for me to say being a fan of Nigel Benn during his career.

Toney f**ks Calzaghe's father in the shower and than has a Big Mac. He than loses the fight by split decision.

JT is one of my alltime faves and at his best can beat anyone BUT even at his best he was unreliable. I could TOTALLY see Toney underestimating Calzaghe and losing a decision as I am sure Calzaghe would take him seriously.

Stylistically, this is a Toney win all day long. Calzaghe coming forward with that weak guard and lack of head movement plays right into Toney's hands, who would land his hard fast counter-right with alarming frequency. Calzaghe's volume clusters of light punches would not trouble someone with Toney's chin or defence. I see no possible result other than a wide Toney points win, with a couple of knockdowns widening the card to something along the lines of 117-106. Joe C would pick up some rounds down the stretch probably on account of his heart and workrate, but all in all he would be outclassed.

    LMAO

You think Calzaghe who is known for adaptability will come forward against Toney and then stay there for the rest of the fight if he's doing badly? Calzaghe is not ****ing Jirov.
