JMM is not an all time great. He could make HOF. he is one of the best in this era.

The great featherweights of his era include Barrera, Morales, Pac, Chris John, Hamed. Of which he has a win over 1 of them and that win was clearly after Barrera had begun slipping. Even a slipping Barrera knocked down JMM (a few even thought Barrera won the fight including the announcers). Morales may have ducked him but he was in line to face Hamed all he had to do was beat Norwood which he did not do. He lost to John.

I just don't see any great wins on his resume.
Casamayor was also clearly past his prime. Diaz proves nothing as Paulie beat him. Katsidis is just okay. Barrera is the best win.

What kind of ATG is completely dominated the way he was against Mayweather? I know Floyd has size advantage but Floyd also started in lower weights.

To me JMM is a guy who matches up well with an ATG in Pac. He has had a quality run against B competition. That does not make him an all time great.

Does this question really need to be asked?

there is only ONE loss that is not up for debate whether he lost or not and that was the mayweather fight. Other than that all his other losses are debatable imo

Norwood was a loss there should be no debate.

John is debatable. It was two counter punchers. JMM should have realized you are fighting in the guys back yard. He never took the fight to John. Close fight could have gone either way although if I was scoring I would have given a slight edge to JMM.

Some say the Barrera fight could have gone to Barrera. I scored it for Barrera. To be fair most hardcore fans I know scored it for JMM.

Pac fights were close but the 1st fight was a draw because of relative scoring. The people were so shocked he survived that they gave him rounds for doing better. 2nd Figth I had Pac winning.

Clearly ATG fighters would not have struggled with Norwood or John and would have more career defining wins.

JMM is a HOF but not a ATG. If you consider JMM and ATG then you have to also consider Barrera, Morales, Castillo ATG because their resumes are just as good.

who do you consider atg's from lets say the last decade, if they started a few years in the 90's it also counts of course.

Barrera and Morales ARE ATGS's...Castillo is a future HOFer, just like Marquez, but Juan has a good chance at becoming an ATG.

the early loss, his losses to Norwood, John, and Pacquiao are all highly debatable. looks like some noobs don't even watch those fights. they just look up his record on boxrec without even watching the fights.

Personally I have watched everyone of JMM fights. The strongest case that he won the fight was against John, in a no action fight. It is funny I don't think most people realize that during JMM's early career he was actually a kind of dull fighter to watch. I was there live when he fought Salido and about put the crowd to sleep, before the Hopkins vs. Oscar fight.
