I actually can't think of a single "great fight" Tyson has ever been involved in. He was more of a spectacle than anything. His fights underwhelmed.
It's a great performance, if you could argue it on the strength of that then i suppose so, you're always going to have people disagreeing on it though i think.
Lol at Tyson-Bonecrusher. Kinda devalues the book. Perhaps you should sue the authour for misleading title.
Leon Spinks vs Sixto Soria 1976 Olympics,,,,,,,,178 lb. Light Heavyweight Gold Medal Fight. A flat-out 3-round war, where each fighter was staggered several times.
That is shitty. I was thinking about this, I bet an average Classic forum's list would be entirely different than that of the books'. I bet Charles vs Johnson never made it in?
Charles makes it in for Walcott IV, the distance loss to Marciano and Louis (which I know you love GP).
Can't be that bad of book then. I do love that fight. I've seen all the Walcott vs Charles fights (or what is available of them) but I can;t remember **** about them, here I'm hearing the fourth one is good and in another thread the second one is supposed to be good, going to have to re-watch them. I'm just thinking now, I bet if I did a list mines would hardly tally with the books'. Alan Rudkin vs Walter McGowan II, Lionel Rose Harada vs Jofre I, Kingpetch I and II, Famechon I Harold Johnson vs Jones, Charles Arguello vs Escalara I, Kobayashi How many of them are in the book?
100. I was itching to try to organise a list of 100 fights picked by the forum...but it would take ages and be annoying
Yeh, I'm thinking about it too. I actually don't think it would be that hard, it would just be narrowing them down would be the most difficult part. I'm gonna try do it, I probably won;t finish it but I'll give it a bash.
atsch:? Are you actually being serious?? Douglas-Tyson?? A great fight?? That was just a stinker - Tyson wasn't even there??
Moorer-Cooper. I love that fight. It's got it all -drama, a see-saw battle, comedy (to wit: Moorer's post fight interview). Speaking of Cooper. How about Mercer-Cooper? Cooper lost both, but for a while there, the Smoke was no joke. There's no film, but there are photographs of Chase-Marshall I. Those show what it was -a war that saw both men go down on their way to a draw. Booker-Williams III is another one. It was Eddie's last fight, with half his sight; and he went out right.
Pretty aswesome. I wouldn't know where to start...I mean there are so many...but let me see whatever you get, that would be cool.
