The only reason they can BOTH continue to be considered for ATG stature is that they never met. If Wlad and Vitali met twice (likely if they were not brothers) and Wlad won both, Vitali would not be seen as ATG.

The fact that they HAVEN'T met each other actually enhances their joint standing.

    Ridiculous state of affairs.

I do have to make it clear that Vitally and Wladamir are two seperate individuals, even if they do happen to be brothers.

Saying that they dominated a decade between them is a bit like saying that Jim Jeffries and Jack Johnson dominated two decades between them.

EDIT: I misread your post - we're basically saying the same thing, agree it would be exciting.

Yeah, I caught you on the way back, I basically agree. It would make for good nights, too...if Haye beats them both, that would be mad.

Yeah, I think it would be good fights. Vitali really is slipping so Haye has a decent chance if he fights a fight like he did to Valuev, moving in, throwing, moving away again. I can´t see him beating Wlad though, of course he has a chance with his speed and power, but it´s a small one. Would be good for hw and boxing if this happens.

The thing is though, Haye seems to want Wlad but the K2 people seem to be pushing Vitali. It's an odd one.

Haye has no chance vs Vitali. He looked poor vs. Valuev, and rather timid early on vs. Harrison. Haye fights like a guy protecting a suspect chin, who also might have suspect long term stamina. Once they enter the ring, Vitali will intimidate Haye, and take him out. I don't care if he's 39 or 40. Wlad will likely do the same. Whomever Haye picks first is likely the man he thinks he will have the best chance against.

Yeah, they just should make a deal that he fights both anyway. Would gurantee him what he wants most and the fights gets made. But then, I guess Haye only wants to face both if he loses the first fight. And now that it seems that he wants to retire late next year ...

Their legacies really will only be determined once they have retired, imo.

Wlad seems no1 at the moment, and usually has. But, his legacy takes a massive hit, imo, if when he does lose a fight, Vitali is the one that squares the ledger, again. If this happens, then i think by default Vitali not only becomes the dominator of the decade, but really gets the benefit of all the good cleanout work that Wlad has done.

Wlad, on the other hand, can only really keep winning like he has been and i think, he will be seen as the no 1 fighter, if both him and Vitali lose to his eventual successor or if both retire. Although i must say, the manner of any loss will effect his legacy. If he takes yet anohter ko fight in a fight he is dominating then I think his chin will count against him in measuring his legacy and Vitali will be seen as the no 1 man.

Strangely enough, both fight decent contenders on a regular basis and are always in top shape. Which is something we have always wanted and something which the likes of Dempsey, Johnson, Corbett, Liston and many others actually never did. Strangely, we should ahve exactly what we always wanted in these champions. Sadly, it is the contenders not the champs who all fail to fight main contenders or train properly. Absolutely astounding how the natural order has reversed itself, when you think about it.

Well neither have quite dominated the decade because they haven't fought each other, Vitali lost to Lennox and they missed a few outstanding challengers like Lennox (Wlad), Toney, Haye, Sanders (Wlad), Jones Jr, Valuev, Chagev (Vitali), Holyfield, Tyson, Ruiz. In some of those cases it wasn't there fault and both have fought some of the best, but boxing isn't supposed to be a team effort

Only someone in need of professional help would consider Vitali an all time great.

Shameful moronic nonsense, typical of the ignorant General forum; overrating Wlad's opposition & underrating Tyson's.

Wlad hasn't beaten anybody as good as Berbick, Thomas, Tucker, Ruddock, Bruno, Spinks, Old Holmes, Tubbs.

I think Byrd, Chagaev and Ibragimov fit in there quite well actually. But sorry to have "insulted" your god.
