He has as good a chance of winning as any, especially if he is in shape. It would be great to see him back. A strong case for him being WBA/IBF (in a fair world) and WBO champion (in the very close fight with Calzaghe).
I doubt he'll win. He's shot to bits. If anything this format might expose him even worse than a more methodical pace.
I think he will win it. If he is in any sort of condition, he is light years better than everybody else in the tournament. He is only 39. How old is B-Hop?
You can't compare him with Bhop, he's a one off and for the amount for fights he's been in has taken relatively little punishment. In general boxing's a young man's sport and at 39 Reid should stay on the otherside of the ropes IMHO
seems like robin reid is always around the boxing show's watching.. so it looks like he loves the game and cant stay away. he's in shape for it like u would expect anyway from reid.
Reid looked bit fleshy against Froch but didn't do to bad in that fight but never looked like having a chance of winning. I'm not sure prizefighter will suit his style but saying that he's a class act and sometimes Prizefighter isn't always barn brawls. A lot will depend on what Robin has left leg wise. If he can use his legs he can get through to at least the final IMO. If he can dictate pace and keep his head he will do well....but Robin does get wound up from time to time.
He was a very promising fighter, good amateur who won Bronze at Olympics if i remember correctly off top of head. He went to Italy and captured the WBC title from the notorious Vincenzo Nardiello in 7 rounds which was and always will be a great night in British Boxing. A young fighter going to a place where normally you need to knock your man down 5 times to get a draw. He then made a few defences against notable names like Wharton and Cherifi but then lost his title to Sugarboy Malinga. That night summed his career up...the stage was set on a big PPV bill and he flung title away in a bad performance although Sugarboy was always a tough guy. He then fought Calzaghe and many believe he won the fight. Calzaghe claimed he had his ice cream tampered with and said glass was in it and affected his display. His career after that fell away...he fought Branco up open air bill in Scotland. Branco before the bout refused to come out because of contractual dispute so bout was delayed and in the end Branco thoroughly outboxed Reid who was abysmal IMO. He then quietly went away and boxed on BBC shows defending the WBF title. At the time i thought that's end of him he just getting a few quid in bank and then retire but then he got the shot at Sven Ottke where a certain Roger Tillerman made his mark on British Boxing for the first time with a disgraceful refereeing display. I felt Reid won and many did but as you know Germany is place where you don't get what you deserve. He then fought Brian Magee in a really strange fight...Magee seemed to be doing well and then would get dropped. 4 times he was dropped in the fight and Reid claimed the IBO title. He then fought Lacy in U.S and retired in corner in a scrappy bout and that looked the be end of him...but he fought Jesse Brinkley on Contender show in Newcastle and won. Brinkley is a piece of **** btw...when Reid won Reid went to shake his hand and Brinkley through a wobbler and refused. He fought Froch after but although he took Froch into middle rounds he didn't look like winning and retired on stool. He is,was and always will be a frustrating fighter who never fully lived up to his talent. He had ability and tbh on other nights he could of been a Super Middleweight great if he got the nod against Calzaghe and Ottke but sadly for Reid luck never rubbed off on him. I'm a fan of him and hope he does it!
