I really cant remember many good Argentine fighters from my era.1986-now It seems like they are starting to pick up the sport more. Right now we got guys like Sergio Martinez who got fighter of the year. Marcos Maidana who had yet another fight that was a candidate for fight of the year. Also Lucas Matthysse who i believe will have a coming out party in 2011. I see very good things coming from him. Specially in a talent rich division. Here is some other ones that can make some noise. Abregu Narvaez Cuenca Barros Any others im missing? I know there is that guy Solis just fought who is also a top fighter. It seems Argentines are also very exciting usually packing some serious power. They are like Colombians but with skills.
I tough heiland had potential when he faced zbik and lost a controversional decision, but after that he went on to lose to tapia. But I agree Argentina seems to be doing well in boxing, I wonder if the people over there give them credit.
considering the last time I heard that, Said Ouali got up off the canvas to knock out the Argentinian Hector Saldivia, I'll wait to see.
I would like for that fight to happen but first have them face a few top names so they can build it up and i also think the loser might disappear since it would give other top guys the excuse of he has lost too much. So let them fight some top guys now and then go after each other. Does anyone think this fight lasts more than 6 rounds?
True, but like you said I'm worried about one of them becoming irrelevant before the fight is actually made... I agree if they do win a few more big fights the build up would be better though. In my opinion it doesn't go past 8. And Maidana wins after getting off the canvas at least once.
I think you are right. although Matthyse we dont know how much heart he has. He did take some big shots from Judah and just walked through them.
True, it would be a real test for Matthysse... even more that Judah was. Maidana comes to fight, and the chances are he has you in trouble at least once. Who ever wants it more that night wins I think.
Cuenca :rofl Hasn't that guy got 1 KO in about 35 or something fights and has never fought anyone of note.
LOL....39 wins (1 KO) and no losses....wonder what he fights like....couldnt find any fights on youtube... And i just saw this on his last fight: I didnt know you could get half a point? lol
Juan Manuel Bonanni is looking pretty decent, outside of getting robbed out of a win in his last fight. In terms of the last decade or so, there was also Jorge Barrios and Jorge Fernando Castro
