    This other kid just arrived in a thread and gave a good answer to a question using the fighter he knows best. Every poster on the forum does that every day.

    You can always take the worst title challenger of an active champion and find sombody better that they didn't fight.

    What is apparent is that none of these guys were better than the best contenders that Louis was fighting.

    The case against team Louis here is ambiguous at best.

    Uh, no? I'm a huge Tyson critic and an even bigger Louis fan. I rate Tyson a lot lower than most of the boxing fans of my generation. I think YOU'RE the one with the Tyson problem judging by your response. And even if there was some implication about level of comp I could mention like somebody else in his thread how Tyson used it against Holmes. Is he a bum too? I don't even like Tyson and I'm inclined to defend him against you just because you're being ridiculous.

    Yeah, I would agree with that much.

    But Louis fought loads of title fights, many of them voluntary. He made a habit of taking on the top man, and that's the important thing.

    In his voluntary defences - yeah, he picked on whitie. But you know why.

    The 32-year old heavyweight gets a title shot versus Joe Louis, on 4/1/38.
    A year earlier, he lost to one Roscoe Toles (11-5-1), a decent but, inexperienced
    black heavyweight.

    That's actually a really interesting one. Thomas got his title shot off the back of another loss, to Max Schmeling. Basically people wanted to see if Louis could dispatch of him more quickly than Max. It was a gate-builder.

    If it was a non-title fight, nobody would have batted an eyelid, but title-fights were more fun.

    12000 watched this one according to Boxrec!

    and the version of larry holmes who faced tyson was pathetic, simple. even holmes in 1992 was better. because he was trained. like i said.. you are obsessed to defend tyson

    It's not what you said about Tyson, but your reaction to the post that is telling, and McGrain at least seems to think so. Point is you're acting like a douchebag for no reason, I really don't understand it. Whatever. I'm no tyson nuthugger.
