I think I have an argument, regardless. I would expect the likes of Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, and Juan Manuel Marquez to devastate and destroy the likes of Preecha or Park in double quick time. In fact, we saw them take B-C level opposition apart on a regular basis, but when it came gimd to fight P4P rated opposition, they still remained victorious.

Alvarez was a pretty good fighter in his own right, but not nearly a good enough scalp compared to fighters Barrera and Morales overcame.

    An emphatic no.

He's great however, but Julio Cesar Chavez is pretty much unanimously considered the best mexican fighter of all time.

"They must have been tough Taxi Driver's"

I don't think Greg ever honestly thought Chavez was anything less than elite. He was a smart guy who had been around the game a long time, he knew.

You must be having a laugh, surely... he`s not even the best of his own time, Morales, Barrera & Lopez were better IMO.

Julio Cesar Chavez is clearly Mexico`s best ever fighter, Salvador Sanchez was also better than JMM.

The haugen beatdown was considerable, but I think Terrance Ali got it twice as bad. Chavez beat the ever-loving **** out of Ali, it was sickening. His corner should have saved him as early as the 4th.

HAHA. Seriously though, even a casual recent fan shouldn't be this delusional. There are recent Mexicans greater than Marquez. I mean JCC is recent enough for anyone to know him, not to mention EM, who actually beat Pacquiao.

    Julio Cesar Chavez:

    1) longest undefeated streak in boxing history (13 years, going 89-0)
    2) most title fights (37)
    3) most title-fight victories (31)
    4) most title defenses won by knockout (21)
    5) most successful consecutive defenses of world titles (27)
    6) most people watching his fight live (estadio azteca, 130,000+)

i honestly doubt JMM or anyone is going to top this any time soon...

No for obvious reasons. Finito, JCC, chava, olivarez, morales,barrera... damn there are so many.
