Thanks for explaining how that works. I've never been able to get the submissions to work in UFC Undisputed.
cool thanks, i wanted to get the MMA also cuz of fedor being in there. I saw the guide book for that game and they have a lot of good fighters. Thinking of getting it now since i see a lot of people here like it better than the ufc.
oh bad ass.. i like playing for the belts so i think i would enjoy this game more. It's one thing i didn't like about the fight night games is that they didn't have the alphabet titles.
Oh, no it isn't, man. EA MMA talks the talk but the engine is ****ing laughable. Go on youtube, watch a round of any fight and if that looks like something you can tolerate, rush out to buy it, if not, stick with UFC. First of all, it's production value is spectacular, the characters look wonderful, the commentary is brilliant. That part of the game is all good, but there are issues with the gameplay, it's unlikely you're going to go 3 rounds using ANY fighters if you keep the fight standing up. The punches do way too much damage and you're bound to get knocked out eventually, the issue is that it's not fluid enough, you can't jab in and out, it's all down to counter punching. Wait for your opponent to throw a hayemaker, feint back then throws yours, that's essentially it. I mean, you can get a good game going with leg kicks and using a single jab everytime an opponent throws something but generally, the stand-up game is not fluid enough to truly enjoy, infact the feints just kinda made it worse, I reckon. The ground game is decent, but the issue is that it's not a challenge, it's repetitive. If your opponent has you down, you essentially have to flick out of the transition 3 times regardless if the opponent blocks it, after 3 you're either back on your feet or your opponent will have reversed one (usually unlikely unless you're gassed or have GSP or Fitch on you) and will have a better position. Really, it's just a case of keeping your stamina to the top and spamming escape attempts, you can reverse but I've really no clue how to do it properly, you're supposed to time it but that never seems to work. When you're on top, it's more of the same, all you have to do is block their attempt to escape, posture up, throw some digs, then pass until you have them in a decent position and **** their **** up. Really, it's not at all challenging, the issues I've had with the game have been when I've been taken down continually buy a ground-game happy GSP, if it's not that I'll be trying to box my opponent and they'll knock me out or I get subbed when my stamina is down. It's not really challenging, it's more challenging to try and go the distance. Try to take your opponent 5 rounds and win a decision. I tried doing it with GSP against Alves, I had him pretty much out on his feet by the 4th and carried him to the end. Overall though, I ****ing love the game, Yukes just need to start beefing up their controls and engine. It was the same with SmackDown, what they're missing is SmackDown's submission system to transition instead of making it so... spammy. Also, if you do buy it, make sure you go online, use Mir, grab your opponent, let his stamina go down, throw a flying armbar then switch it to a triangle at the last second and sub them, it's ****ing magic everytime. However, UFC's career mode is nothing short of terrible. Sure, it's improved from last year, but the leveling up is frustrating as ****. You can barely gather any stats without cheating your way to the top, and if you don't get your stuff to a skill level of 30/50/70 they'll go down which is absolutely frustrating. You can't expect someone to stay undefeated for long with such poor stats in the UFC. I was lucky to have 30 in anything when they threw me against Tito Ortiz when I reached the UFC. Try to stop his ground game like that, you'll be subbed in seconds. Pathetic. If it had FNR4's Career it would be golden, the only issue i've had with that is their fascination with giving everyone high draw records. Every opponent seems to have 4 or more draws, terrible scoring system.
FN4 is great! What don't you like about it? Graphics are awesome, controls allow combinations to flow really well and unlike undisputed there's no phantom punches! Career mode is great, 3 alphabet soup titles and the option to change weight divisions are good additions.
yea that's what i'm hearing too. I watch couple of fights in youtube and i watch the review for it and it says the controls are very difficult.
Its alright wonderful graphics but the ground game is just stupid. I perfer EA MMA. I play both quite a bit though as I do enjoy both.
If you don't like the control with FN4 forget about EA MMA...me I just love the stick control so I really don't care !
I'm a big fan of the stick control too, they tried to replicate it in MMA but it isn't anywhere near as responsive as FN4.
I finally got the EA MMA game. I started the career mode and i got to the first phase. I won a title but then i moved on to the next organization in brazil and i have to fight mostly submission artist. I gotten my ass beat twice already. I have a hard time with the submission.
