How a single punch can turn all the negatives into a big positive is the most incredible thing in sweet science. All Sergio Maravilla Martinez needed was to land the well-trained overhand left on the defensively flawed Paul Williams, and the unbearable disrespect ended in a single moment of truth.

    [yt]fyCsbB-HLRs[/yt]

Everything was against the World MW Champion. He was disrespected in the promotion and during the ring announcement, in fact Team Williams with Dan Goossen on top were only willing to consider signing for the rematch of the controversial first fight if PDub gets the vast majority of the money, be the main man in the promotion, fight out of the champion's corner and his team can select the judges and the ref. And after the 1st round Martinez clearly won, he was already behind on two official cards and you had to listen the nonsense from Manny Steward and Max Kellerman how HBO child Williams was winning when in fact he was getting tagged with flush shots. But it all just played in Martinez hands as when the moment of magic came, it shut everyone the hell up.

It was such a shocker that this historical moment was commentated as if we were watching paint dry, and Steward made it look like Williams was winning before a 'lucky right hand' landed (when in fact it was the same left he couldn't stop hurting Paul with). And on the top of that, HBO pulled the insanity of showing a clearly shocked Williams how he was knocked the **** out eyes open, and Kellerman was like: "he you get KTFO, thank you Paul, have a good night". Even Martinez' promoter Lou DiBella was a disgrace as he was near to a nervous breakdown before the fight and took this win as a personal revenge over Goossen and HBO which left him out in the cold for a long time. Only Sergio Maravilla Martinez remained respectful and looked at this fight what it is: a single sport event between two elite boxers, two nice guys actually.

And in the end, despite everything conspiring against him, the Argentiean outsider rocketed himself from the 'opponent' to the best fighter in the world in year 2010, and if you don't like his unscripted, unofficial story, you should really choose another sport, because he just gave ours - this moneymen and mob controlled mess - a finger, in fact: a full fist to the face, and thanks God for that!

So in a few days Martinez gets the Fighter of the Year and the Knockout of the Year award and he deserves them both. WAR MARAVILLA!

It was such a perfect shot, punches like that usually only come once in an entire career. One for the history books, and well deserved.

Very nice. The road has been very hard for Martinez. You could tell he was on his way to getting robbed again. I have no idea how judges could have given PW that first round.

good for him, its well deserved. hopefully he can continue to get some big fights now that he's in a position to get pay that's on par w/ his talent.

lord that was a brutal shot. hopefully williams can recover from it and make some noise again so that the most lasting image of his career won't be him, eyes open and lights out, on the canvas.

That first round was even, but let's face facts. Williams is the HBO fighter. He's the one standing there with Chris Nipples in the commericals talking about the future of the sport.

This gets better every single time I see it. Got to love K.O's like that. Hope P-Dub is ok and can come back from that though, those are the type of knockouts that can change lifes and careers, ask Jermain Taylor.
