Thoughts on how the fight will go, and what the end result will be? :bbb

Along the lines of the Florian fight for me. Clay could clinch and stall for a bit and maybe tire Gomi out but I cant see him avoiding that right hand for 15 minutes

Tough call. Gomi was once considered the ****. Now it is 50-50. If he lands hands it could be good night but then the grappling is questionable. Even so, I don't think Gomi's hands are that good. Likewise I think Clay isn't that good either, he just comes to fight and needs a haircut so he can be more effective :)

I think Clay does quite a lot of standing before he can get his wrestling done. That is the danger time for him.

He doesnt have anything like Kenny's standup game though, he could win a decision with hios typical fence clinching or maybe get a sub but if it devolps into a standup exchange he's at a massive disadvanatge, worse technique, lesser power and less chin.

Gomi wins by either TKO/KO-decision or submission

He isnt as technical as Kenny of course, but Clay isnt exactly hard to hit is my point

Hopefully Gomi knocks him the hell out. I dont expect that though I believe Clay will get the needed takedowns and wear Gomi out very quickly. Gomi has questionable cardio and ground skills I think Guida will get a choke victory probably yet another RNC loss for Gomi.

Guida by submission. Round 2 or 3. If not, decision. ****ing love me some Clay Guida. He won't be stupid enough to stand for any longer than the first 15 seconds, and I truly believe he has one of the best chins in MMA, he can take it, so long as he's not on his feet for the full fight.

Gomi KO round 1. Probably heart over head, but whatever. Gomi is my second favourite fighter ever.

I've got a feeling Greg Jackson has drilled it into Guida's head that standing with Gomi is a bad idea and if this is the case I expect Guida to put him on his back and win a decision or get a late sub as Gomi gets tired. Having said that if Guida comes out and does stand with him Gomi has a good shot at knocking him out.

Gomi used to be an excellent grappler. But its hard to tell these days as he's fallen from grace and seems quite uninterested. Im actually more surprised to see him back in MMA let alone the UFC. I always thought he's sabbatical was a permanent one.
