You don't have to be Ali to beat Foreman. Young is not even on Holmes' level of greatness and still beat Foreman. Foreman was "prime" a year ago when he beat Lyle but not when he fought Young just because he lost? What kind of nuthuggery is that? I bet if he beat Young you would say he was prime then. He WAS prime as was my boy Mike when he wasn't at his best mentally either against Douglas. Foreman of '77 still gave Young a scare but Young overcame it. Holmes handled Shavers easily in the first fight but despite the kd in the second fight he still won it by a good margin. And no it isn't a fact whether who would finish who between Holmes and Foreman because they didn't fight so it's all speculation.

  2. yes, you have to be ali to beat a mentally and phisically prime foreman.
jimmy young was stolen against ali, norton, shavers and larry holmes avoided jimmy young and ron lyle when holmes was a prospect in the years 76-77, simple .
you are the only who said this ****, foreman was not in hi sprime mentally when he faced lyle or young
    .
foreman was better than shavers by a mile ,holmes was ko against shavers but shavers was just a hard puncher with glass chin, no skill, very bad finisher ... foreman was much bigger, much stronger, he had longer reach, he had x 10 better chin, foreman did cut the ring much better, he had much more heart, brutal hitting power in both hands and he was much more aggressive, he was much better finisher.

Yet again you have proven that you really are an immature, peurile, classless piece of humanity haven't you? Where do you get off describing Larry Holmes as "a bucket of garbage"? Using terminology like this really does prove that you have little or no understanding of the dedication and bravery it takes to become a boxer of any standard, let alone one of the class & accomplishments of Holmes.

As for the **** comment...well, that proves that you are indeed the "bucket of garbage".

Why don't you leave this board to sensible, balanced, mature posters who want to discuss boxing in a mature and adult way?

No, a prime Holmes still has a good shot at beating Foreman. No one "outslugs" prime Foreman but I see others(maybe even Louis just as long as he doesn't try to trade) beating him just as long as they box and are durable which Holmes fits the category for both.

Jimmy did get robbed imo too against Shavers(second fight), Ali, and Norton. Jimmy "lost" to Occasio so Holmes fought him instead. Foreman was prime but lost against Young. He was messed up mentally only in the Young fight. He looked pretty damn good to me in the Lyle fight and showed plenty of heart. That fight also proves my point that no one outslugs prime Foreman though Lyle could box but chose to trade more which wasn't smart. Young got hurt by Foreman(Foreman showing heart again) but recuperated to get his well-deserved W. The Foreman of those fights would have given hell to many heavyweights and was prime.

He was knocked down yet still got up to win. Holmes still beat Shavers decisively both times and got up from one of the hardest rights ever thrown. Longer reach? Foreman in his prime didn't jab too much and overpowered his opponents for the most part. That's all he really had going for him that and cutting off the ring.

  5. i disagre with the 90% that you said.
in few words, the best foreman would tko holmes, because larry did accept the exchange of blows , simple. foreman was not in his prime, he was depressed and still he was fighting, he knocked out ron lyle.
and yes, holmes was KO against shavers, you put a good finisher in the place of shavers and you get holmes ko.

  6. go away to your cavern, noob.

Holmes got CRACKED by one thunderous shot from good ol' Acorn. Not sure any other man could have gotten up from that. Larry got up and knocked Acorn out.

Well, your response kinda proves my point really. I like the way you've attempted to respond to my points individually! You really are even more educationally subnormal than I initially thought...

 You aren't so bright are you? He rose up and beat him. Shavers never ko'd Holmes he knocked him down. There's NO proof about what would happen between Holmes and Foreman because that fight didn't happen. Foreman WAS prime at least from 73-77. When he came back years later he was past prime but worked with his technique with Archie Moore. This thread is about Smith and Tyson so we are very off topic.
