What part of the world are you from combat?? Your protracted English is hilarious:lol: I love "this ******ed rockssplit!!". "hisa boyfrienda marcajana!!" I have no hate for the 60's and 70's era but I think in general it is the only era that is fed to the masses so it is the only era other than their own that has any resonance with most - it is my guess that you don't really have much of an idea about the 40's or 50's for example - anyone with any affinity to those eras for instance could in no way talk about them in the flippant, denegrative and at times outright offensive way that you do - you've got your mind made up for and you're probably a little embarrassed about looking stupid if you were to back track a little - that's the difference - I give credit to all fighters from all eras but I do try to remain true to the reality of what I see when I watch them on film and try not to get sucked into following the myths too much - especially where they have turned 180 degrees to the previous fair understanding of a fighter - such as with Chuvalo, an extremely dogged and stolid man and fighter beyond that of mere mortals but if not for that undeniable quality and being bleshed with the ability to take huge amounts of punishment (1 quarter of which would probably stop most fighters) he could not have lasted because in terms of his all round fighting style and performance levels - he was in all reality not really a touch on the world class fighters of the day - even with his inhuman toughness he always fell well short against world class operators ie Folley, Patterson, Clay, Frazier, Foreman - even the likes of eduardo corletti and joe erskine proved too good for him and they really weren't a blip on the world radar at the time let alone on a historical level

I can't any of the posts pertaining to Chuvalo could be in anyway even misconstrued as venomous??? I and probably every fight fan and any person that knows his story has nothing but huge respect for him?? How could you take anything that's been said as venomous is truly beyond me?? The venomousnous has all been one way traffic from the ever respectful and sensitive Combat - I refer back to comments such as shitting on his face and belittling him for lack of size in a juvenile and personal manner and saying things like he is "my boyfrienda!!" haha sometimes his wording sounds funny when you read it (a bit faulty towers-ish for those that are familiar) but at the same time you know from what is being said by combat that it is meant as a vehement frustrated attack to offend - nobody has reverted to that sort of thing except combat so maybe you need engage brain before typing maybe (sorry if that sounds a bit patronising but there really isn't more of an obvious example of kettle call the pot black than what you typed above??) sorry

I don't believe he was referring to your post but Klompton's which I agree was over the top ... I have never heard another human being call Chuvalo's chin over rated or questioned his heart ... never. As for comparing him in any way to Joe Grim, who never won , was never competitive and endlessly knocked down is a huge insult to what Chuvalo did achieve ..

Not necessarily referring to you, although you do like to gloat about the 60's and 70's fighters being nobodies and highly overrated, which is far from true. But you're right that combat is going way over the top, as he often does. I don't read his posts really so I don't know what he has been talking about, and I'd advise other posters to do the same.

This is more what I'm talking about:

Everyone who knows Joe Grim, knows he barely ever won a fight and was a freakshow more so than a boxer, while Chuvalo was a legitimate top 10 contender and even a top 5 contender in his best day, who fought respectably against the likes of Ali, Patterson, Quarry and others.

  5. 1_my english is better than your spanish for sure.( i think that you can´t say ANY **** in spanish)
2_like i said you continues insulting other fighter saying bull**** like " foreman was limited"(you are boring like the hell) " chuvalo was limited and overrated" but the facts are rocky marciano is one of the most limited champs of all time. rocky was = heart, stamina and some hitting power, end of the history. he had no speed, no skill, no defence,HE WEIGHED 185 POUNDS,HE WAS NOT EVEN A HW, he finished every fight with his face destroyed. and he fought in a ****ing weak era. and chuvalo was not very different than marciano, he a solid 215 pounder, he was stronger than rocky.
    SO CLOSE YOUR MOUTH, FRAUD.:deal

Hahahaha :lol: you damna righta!! I no Spanish any shitta!! :rofl

maybe you don't understand my meaning but I seriously haven't used any derogatory remarks at all - saying things like Foreman limited is not a derogatory term - it was simply meant that in comparison when you watch him - I haven't seen one fight of his where his opponent wasn't quicker than Foreman, more poised than Foreman, with more textbook technique, they always have better form and balance, better timing than Foreman, more strings to their bow as it were? But Foreman always managed to make a mockery of any notions that boxing was an art form by sheer massive strength and monster power IMO more so then any other heavyweight.

I won't begin to start with your statements about Marciano suffice to say some of the greatest and most experienced boxing minds in history thought the exact polar opposite of what you've said as I do myself based on visual evidence from the films of his fights

yeah, that was pretty harsh. at the end of the day, i've seen the classic be pretty damn fair to george. a tough night for anybody, all time best ever at heavy, and a determined but severely limited brawler. his win (legitimate) against quarry, war with patterson (could have gone either way by most writers of the era, though they tended to favour patterson slightly) and stands against ali are tempered by his brutual losses to foreman and frazier and frequently getting outboxed by other contenders

no one claims he's an all time great but the fact that he was a "journeyman" or more accurately, stern test and stepping stone, is a testimate to the era. i think the fact that george wasn't terribly a serious threat was proof of how amazing the 70s were, not a demonstration of the era being overrated. george was a very good fighter and if he was considered a journeyman, how great were the top contenders??

    Well, now you have.

Someone above said Chuvalo was a tough night for anyone... Then explain all of his dominant one sided losses to all of those fighters he fought, some of whom werent even top ten calibre opponents. Obviously he wasnt a tough night for them. Buster ****ing Mathis manhandled him. Nuff said.

true, mathis fought the best fight of his life and saying he's a tough night for anyone is a stretch. but the same could be said of duran...except when he fought benitez. or benvenuti...except when he fought monzon. george was not elite in skill but elite in heart and chin. that's pretty much all anyone can, or does, say about him.

I've not intended to be harsh to Chuvalo at all - simply being a realist - the Patterson fight which I have on tape I thought Floyd won pretty clearly really - my point is Patterson was a two time world heavyweight champion youngest ever first to regain it - the difference in class was pretty well marked - chuvalo could do little else to make it any closer than it was - but for his unhurtableness he a good couple of lengths behind Patterson - against Clay it was more like 5 or 6 length behind - he really chugged alongwhile these guys were thoroughbreds.

You say "no one is claiming he's an all time great" but combat was putting him in that bracket claiming he was overall a better fighter than the great Rocky Marciano and stating that he would be a tough tough fight for Jack Dempsey?? Now most historians with their brains connected do and have always historically put Dempsey and Marciano in their mid top 10 as a rule so your asking people to either consider Chuvalo very close to an alltime to 10 spot or if like the rest of us he'd be lucky to crack the top 50 then your asking for prime versions of the Brockton Blockbuster and the Manassa Mauler to dropped to the bottom end of the top 50 - you can't really have it both ways it's one or the other

The point was that that was not all Combat could or did say about - if he had of just said that then obviously would've been in agreement with him - but what he did say was that he was a better fighter than Rocky Marciano and a big threat to Jack Dempsey - do you think that is ridiculous then cheers you're with me on that and as such you'll need to unhug yourself from Combat's nuts LOL

Chuvalo shouldnt even be mentioned alongside Benvenuti or moreso Duran.
