I was watching a great highlight of Charles burley which had me very impressed with his skills. Upon watching i wanted to see his record and see more about him, after a review i noticed that he had split matches with Holman Williams. I noticed williams fought cerdan, lamotta, split fights with archie moore as well. Does anyone have any stories or info on Williams..fighting style, highest points, etc Also can anyone fill me in with more info on Burley?? Thanks
Williiamns was apparently a slick stylish specialist, elusive and all that. You should read 'Charley Burley- The Life and Hard Times of an Uncrowned Champion', it's a brilliant book, my favourite boxing book actually. It's a healthy balanced read and unbiased, the author just aims to inform and doesn't go insane with all kinds of mad claims, the research that went into it must have been phenomenal
You're kidding surfbat??!!! You been hiding something from us???? Please tell me its one of the Williams-Burley matches?!!
Williams had bad hands, which contributed to his style and diminishing KO% as much as the step-up in class, I think. Who knows how many fights he had to fight with hand injuries?
He was also 34 and 170+ fights in... Has anyone got any Holman-Cocoa Kid fight reports? U find it strange that he seemed to be Holman's bogey man
Hes wondering if Holman was paid to take a loss, which I doubt as I believe this was a close controversal decision
