Is Carl Froch the Best British Fighter Since Lennox Lewis?

There's definitely an argument that Froch is the most courageous of our recent champions. He's been on an almost suicidal stretch of fights that are great for fans but make you worry about the fighter himself. But then Hennessy took so long to get Froch into the spotlight that he has had no alternative but to cram these fights into the 'end' of his career. Ridiculous really. If Hennessy had gotten Froch there sooner it would've been Calzaghe-Froch at the Millennium Stadium instead of Kessler, and even after Calzaghe had had his 2 fights at light heavyweight Froch was still nowhere so it wasnt economicsally viable at any stage. One thing Froch hasn't shown so far is adaptablilty in a fight when required, so this question may be better answered after fighting someobody like Ward who wont stand statically in front of him like Abraham or run like Dirrell.

Calzaghe beat a prime unbeaten Kessler, a non prime Kessler then beats a prime Froch.

A lot is made of Calzaghes resume, Hopkins refused to fight him back in the day, Collins refused to fight him, Jones Jnr was advised not to fight him back in the day.

Calzaghe was always fighting away from home, he fought Delaney, Eubank, Reid, Starie and Woodhall all away in England in important fights, he fought Veit in Germany and Hopkins and Jones Jnr in the USA.
He fought an American in Denmark on a Tyson undercard not to mention loads of Englishmen in England on the way up as well as fighting fighters from foreign shores in the UK but not in Wales, like Bika, Lacy, Salem and Sheika.
Calzaghes important fights at home in Wales was Kessler, Mitchell and Brewer, considering Calzaghe was an undefeated champion for years he did not fight at home that often.

Calzaghe was the home fighter against Bika, Lacy, Salem and Sheika yes but it was not his own backyard, Calzaghe fought a very creditable amount of his fights away from home for a champion.

Calzaghe had only 18 fights in Wales out of a total of 46 fights.

 

Calzaghe won 4 schoolboy ABA titles, he then won 3 consecutive senior ABA titles at different weights becoming the first boxer since the 1920s to achieve such a feet.{only second man ever}
As a pro , Calzaghe held all the Super-middleweight titles at one time or another, held one version for 11 years and over 20 defences.
Calzaghe amasted a pro record of 46 fights and 46 wins, Calzaghe was close to unbeatable as an amateur or pro, he did not know how to lose, he would always find a way to win.
America's new Mike Tyson the unbeaten Jeff Lacy was ruined mentally and physically as a boxer forever by Joe, the great unbeaten champion Mikkel Kessler was beaten by Joe, the great Bernard Hopkins who was and still is on a great run was beaten in his own country by Joe , even legend Roy Jones Jnr was on a run until he was humiliated by Joe.

There is no comparison between Calzaghe and Froch, Calzaghe was an elite boxer who is in a different league to Froch.

Lacy was the most overhyed fighter in the history of the game ... the kessler fight was an epic and outstanding performance (glad i was there) , BH was a good result but RJJ wasnt the fighter he was... Calzaghe and Froch was never going to happen .. JC wanted pension payment fights in the states and Froch was building a legacy ... JC isnt in a different league to froch at all - give Froch some credit 5 world title fights and 3 outside the UK against very creditable opposition , JC defended his title only twice outside the UK and those were shoe in fights really .... home advantage does make a huge difference !

JC was techincally gifted fighter who is certainly a top 3 fighter but Frochs mid table and closing ....
