Bit of an odd term "Glass Jaw."

Just because someones goes down from a shot, they should not always be branded as having one. Martinez punch that KO'd Williams I think would have at least knocked down absolutely anyone else except for those who really can take a pasting (MW Gatti)?

Similar story with Jacobs, got caught clean with a very nice shot.

Dirrell I think is a good contender for the award. He's **** scared of being thumped (not that it's a bad thing), but I think when he meets someone of similar athleticism or technique, he'll be getting KO'd. He ate 2 punches from Abraham in their fight, 1 of them put him clean on his ass, the other one clean knocked him out and gave him neurological problemz!!!!

Jones Jr I think is viable for the award. Yes he was immense at his peak but if were talking about right now, theres no denying he's got 0 punch resilience left in him.

Allan Green - strange one here. I don't think it's the fact he's got a glass jaw, I think it's more the fact he's got 0 heart. Had he been bothered, instead of arguing with the ref who was counting him out, he could quite easily have gotten back up. I think the guys completely crap, and whilst one could be excused for having a "genetic/overabused trait" (glass jaw), I struggle to find any excuses Green could have for simply not being arsed enough to be professional.

Harrisson is just an all round joke. Doesn't matter if he's got a glass jaw or not, I'd vote for him for the sole reason that on the slim chance he might actually see this thread, he'll see a long list of votes against his name and feel bad. The guy makes Green look awesome.

This assertion that "that punch woulda KOd anybody" is unprovable at best and is usually nothing more than a smokescreeen used to excuse glass jawed fighters for their losses.

Bottom line, the only thing you can EVER know is THAT punch would have KOd that fighter, period. And, if they get KOd by other punches, chances are they have a glass jaw.:yep

RJJ - glass cracked many a time before.
    Jacobs - ate a good shot, wasn't 100%
Williams - that shot would have put out damn near every man on the planet

Harrison - went down like a cheerleader after fighting like one. Winner.

This assertion that "that fighter has a glass jaw" is unprovable at best and is usually nothing more than a way to hate on fighters for taking less shots than they "should."

Bottom line, the only thing you can EVER know is that fighter got hit with a good shot, period. And, if they get KOd by other punches, chances are they got hit clean or got hit by a strong puncher.:yep

Yep. The nuthuggers can continue to make excuses for their fighter(s) getting brutally and embarrassingly KOed but the simple fact is when you get KOed by a guy with a 50% KO rate your Chin is not very good. At all.

Exactly. The glass jaw deniers try to stretch reality to protect the objects of their nuthuggery, but the reality is that some fighters DO have china chins.

    Me too :patsch

Salita apparently wants to fight Ricky Hatton next.

I think he should have to beat Ricky's 10 year old son first - I make that a 50-50 fight.

Even an average domestic level fighter like Colin Lynes would have smashed Salita that night.
