Lightweight Championship bout: Frankie Edgar (c) vs. Gray Maynard[1] Middleweight bout: Chris Leben vs. Brian Stann[1] Light Heavyweight bout: Brandon Vera vs. Thiago Silva[1] Welterweight bout: Nate Diaz vs. Dong Hyun Kim[1] Lightweight bout: Clay Guida vs. Takanori Gomi[1] [edit]Preliminary card (lon TV/ESPN UK/Rogers Sportsnet) Lightweight bout: Marcus Davis vs. Jeremy Stephens[1] Featherweight bout: Josh Grispi vs. Dustin Poirier[1] Middleweight bout: Phil Baroni vs. Brad Tavares[1] Meh? Anyone care about this card? Interested to see what Gomi and Baroni have left. But that's a really REALLY average main card.
Think it's a great card personally. Hugely interested in the main event, looking forward to seeing the return of Thiago, Nate Vs Dong is a good matchup and obviously looking forward to Gomi. Davis Vs Stephens should be a good war too. Not sure why Leben Vs Stann is the co-main, though.
Love the UFC 126 card too with Silva/Belfort, Bader/Jones, Griffin/Franklin and Kid Yamamoto. Good couple of events on paper imo
Best UFC card on paper for absolutely ages I think. Each to their own, though. I'm really looking forward to it.
Wow. I think its a load of bollocks. Then again i find it really hard to get up for UFC cards. The bouts are generally unexciting, the action drab, and the fights somewhat meaningless.
Well for the main event you have the newly legitimised champion trying to avenge his only loss, so that's a great fight. Leben Vs Stann is a bit weird but Leben is always exciting. Thiago and Vera both have exciting styles when they go to war. Diaz is an interesting step up for Kim. Gomi I would watch fight my dad. Davis Vs Stephens should be a good stand up war. Grispi was set to challenge Aldo before Jose got hurt. Not really interested in the Baroni fight because Baroni is horrible now. But yeah, lot to look forward to for me.
I expect Baroni to be back in SF if he's lucky. He has fought for the entire year and he's on a 2 fight loosing streak. He's done. But hey he was "The best ever!".
I'll probably still enjoy his pre fight promo. Not at all interested in watching him fight anymore though. It's okay for the first 30 seconds, but his stamina is just horrendous.
I hope Edgar proves that he is one of the top guys in MMA. The dude beat BJ twice. Rest of the card is bit poor in terms of quality but reckon there is a chance of some good fights and a lot of guys will make themselves relevant in there divisions with a win.
I hope Edgar wins too. I would like to see him establish himself as the best lightweight at the moment and only a win over the man that beat him will do that. If he can win - I think it will be an amazing technical display of MMA. Although this card lost it's marquee fights due to injury, the rest of the card is nicely stacked with seasoned and hungry fighters that come to fight. Should make for an entertaining PPV. That is - unless Maynard wins in which case I will probably hate the whole thing. lol
I'm not feeling the prelims but the main card is pretty solid. Looking forward to the Nate Diaz-Dong Hyun Kim fight very much and am hoping Gomi wrecks that barbarian mop-top Guida. Vera vs Silva is ok, but I don't think either will be elite fighters in the division. While I don't think Edgar-Maynard is going to be spectacular, I'm just looking forward to seeing Edgar avenge the loss.
