Who can say ? But I'll give it a shot with a few... 1 Jack Dempsey for his animal magnetism... 2 Joe Louis for being the most LOVED and respected... 3 Max Baer would crowd the room with his WIDE shoulders and personality... 4 Harry Greb for his surreal record [where does he get his energy to stand in the room?] 5 Ray Robinson for his recognition as the greatest all around fighter in the room... 6-Sidenote- Ali would not be popular in that room for no great boxer in that room liked a braggart. Ali was a product of his times, not these more modest eras ...
Dempsey possibly.. Louis was far too quiet Baer clowns a bit too often Greb...sure his record his great but we dnt know much about his personality SRR wasnt as charismatic was Ali
I didn't think that this post was about a vaudeville act. I thought it was about the respect these immortals had for their peers. You imply Max Baer was a "clown". Hell Max Baer eeked personality without demeaning his fallen opponents as your idol Ali did throughout his career.Joe Louis had more inate class in his finger than Ali had in his whole body. To B.S. the public with braggadocia, like Ali did would not go WELL with these great fighters in that room.I would bet my life on that... PS when i was a kid in a tough neighberhood , the boasters usually had their mouth closed. And so with that mythical room of great immortal fighters...
Ali has the ability to take control of the room but he'd be too in awe of Robinson to put those skills into effect. Robinson wins by default.
Difference being Burt, Ali could back up every word he said, and lets face it, half the time it was for the cameras and to put bums on seats
****ing right he could. Well said. Double standards, since Burt has admitted to liking Duran, a ***** of a man who used a man's wife against him to gain an edge.
Well, it'd come down to brute strength and alpha male dominance obviously, as if anything else matters. Daddy? Everybody would leave the room with their name changed to "George."
