As much as I like Tony, I agree on both points.

 

Bellew and Cleverly are hillariously overrated.

Cleverly is overrated by most people, Steve Bunce actually thought he'd beat Chad Dawson.

Bellew is overrated by a select bunch of English people who can't stand the welsh having a better fighter in a division.

Cleverly = European/WBF/Interim champion level

Bellew = Domestic level

Cleverly has some decent skills, but has the boxing iq of a goldfish

Bellew is just a slugger with a dodgy chin, and some basic boxing skills. nothing more.

I enjoy watching them fight, but i dont expect either of them to do anything in the grand scheme of things

 

Please educate me as to how Bellew has a dodgy chin...

Who's saying that Tony should be fighting elite fighters? Even Tony isn't.

I'm talking in terms of him long term, his chin holds up now, but it wont as he steps up in class.

to be honest theres not that huge of a leap from where he is now, to the elite, im pretty sure he'd be top 20 by most organisations.

I just dont think bellew is going any further than he is now.

 

Pascal isn't a massive puncher. If you're talking about him getting stopped because of the difference in levels then fair enough but because of his chin? that's bull**** IMO.

I agree that he's not going much further... IF he stays at light-heavy. He isn't right at light-heavy, he needs to move up.

 

its a combination of chin and class, Pascal will find him easy to hit clean, a lot.

What is wrong with his chin though? He took a massive shot from McKenzie and got straight back up. You don't do that if you've got a dodgy chin. The reason he has been going down is clearly a weight issue for me. I think with the extra muscle on his legs he would be a lot more stable and be able to stay on his feet more.

Too often fighters get labelled "chinny" when they're not and when it's not appropriate. People should look a bit closer before they get into labelling. Bellew is not chinny IMO. He's just vulnerable to being dropped because he gets caught easy with power punches, there's a big difference. Was Tito Trinidad chinny? Look closer and watch what Tony does after he gets dropped...that's not someone who's chinny. If he was he'd be stopped by now. Bellew doesn't have that sort of history and was never stopped as an amatuer.

This is the rule i go by. If someone's chin doesn't stop them from acting the way they intend to act in the ring, then they're not "chinny". Bellew's chin doesn't stop him acting a certain way and he's not chinny IMO. Now, the rest of his game and how far he'll go is open for debate.
