Yes, but not quite as lame as your reply.

The problem, really, comes from his initial reply to my reply. He didn't really say anything other then the same tired argument that GSP doesn't finish fights, when I believe his finishing percentage is up there, or greater, then guys who people generally perceive as "finishers".

It's a ridiculous and asinine argument that I gave the due response to. Also, he conveniently didn't address anything that I said, really.

The only possible knock on GSP is that he didn't finish Dan Hardy. That's the only one. And I can reasonably explain that. Prior to his fight with Dan Hardy, GSP was training his BJJ with Renzo Gracie. During training Renzo told him, while grappling, to "only think about control" and not about hitting.

GSP clearly applied this, and had he not done this, he would very likely have finished that fight (and would have anyway if Hardy's limbs weren't rubber...)

Let's look at the others he's "failed" to finish.

Jon Fitch...13-1 in the UFC. I'll say it again. The man is 13 and 1. The only man to ever beat him, let alone stop him in the UFC IS GSP. Not exactly finish prone.

Thiago Alves. Josh Koscheck couldn't put him down. Anyone else who has stood with this guy was either in significant trouble or (T)KO'd. GSP not only took him down 11 times in their fight but out struck him throughout the entire fight dealing significant damage. Again, he is not exactly finish prone.

    B.J. Penn? Finished.

Josh Koscheck? The guy hasn't been finished in his career, minus the Paulo Thiago fight, which was a questionable stoppage as Koscheck was clearly conscious and, in fact, starting to sit up to grab onto a leg.

These are obscenely tough guys who are notoriously difficult to finish...not only is GSP beating them, he's doing it in a manner that makes them look amateur-ish. Completely shutting down their games, taking minimal damage while dealing significant damage of his own.

No one, Fedor or Anderson, has done this to the degree that he has against such high level opponents. Fedor has a high finish rate, yes, but he constantly finds himself in bad spots. Mark Hunt, a kickboxer, nearly submitted him twice by kimura! GSP has not been in so bad a spot since UFC 69 when he got clipped by Serra. Not even remotely close.

But, watch out for Jose Aldo. That kid is scary.

I really wanted to avoid typing all that...but fine, there it is.

And, for reference, that is not even the "best" I can come up with. But that is clearly more then enough to counter his, quite frankly, nonsense point of GSP not finishing.

It's a false equivalent. GSP not being able to finish the fighters he's not been able to finish would not be equal to, hypothetically speaking, Fedor not being able to finish some of the fighters that he's fought. (Again, I know he did, but drawing out the hypothetical illustrates the point)

If it wasn't clear previously, I hope that illuminates it a bit better.

  9. GSP plays it safe and loves playing the blanket game, he doesnt have a k-1 level striking and isnt as good at submission as compared with Fedor. Fedor on his part is very aggressive and doesnt mind where the fight goes, this isnt safe and isnt the best to get a W but does show that he is a far more compete fighter.

    Not even close.

GSP is, by a fair margin, the most "complete" fighter in all of MMA.

Outside of UFC 50 and UFC 69, name one time in which GSP looked like he was even in remote danger? You can't.

He out strikes strikers, he out grapples grapplers and out wrestles wrestlers, and is the best at the transition between these and making them seamless.

Fedor is constantly in poor positions. Brett Rogers, who is a brawler at best had him in some bad spots. He was nearly submitted by Mark Hunt twice! I'll say it again. He almost got Kimura'd by a kickboxer twice!

The only thing that Fedor shows relative to someone such as GSP is that he lacks the overall skill to avoid these bad positions. Which is not to say that he's not skillful, he very clearly is, but how can we say this? Because he is constantly in these bad positions. This is not skill, it's just...poor planing.

Again, a pathetic argument that holds no weight when put under scrutiny. Also convenient that you ignore everything I said and fall back to your talking point.

Not going to work in this spot. This argument is nonsense.

The only argument from this article was that Fedor doesn't fight enough and it could affect his future performances and accomplishments since he is getting older.

No reason to make this a GSP/Silva vs Fedor.

  12. Which fighters has he fought with a K-1 level striking....where he stood with them and traded punches.

GSP got TKO'ed by a grappler,
GSP also got Armbar'ed by a so-so grappler. GSP playing it safe still has a worse record than Fedor and also hasnt fought as varying fighters from around the world and champions from multiple promotions as Fedor.

  13. GSP: started 2002, 23 MMA fights

Fedor: started 2000, 35 MMA fighter

This isnt even including Fedor's combat Sambo and Sambo fights. It takes an absolute moron of a journalist not to know who has been more active in their whole career. My guess is this journalist only became an MMA fan recently, really sucking up to Zuffa's t!t, and or only watch Zuffa fighters.

What is wrong with you? I corrected you on this ridiculousness on the first page!

No one is saying that Fedor hasn't fought a good amount in his whole career. The criticism is that he's been inactive as of late!

You really can't be this naive.

Rossen has been little more than a Zuffa mouthpeice for years with a dash of troll thrown in.

While nobody could disagree that Fedor's layoff post Werdum is far from ideal where is the criticism when fighters are put on the shelf for months by UFC booking and TUF espeically?
