Bellew hit the deck due to the laws of physics rather than him being chinny. That was a huge hit he took and its no wonder he didn't remain upright.

We don't have to assume anything. People really need to get away from labelling someone chinny because they've tasted the canvas. Look at how heavy those knockdowns are against Ovill, particularly the second one. That was a knockdown a chinny fighter does not get up from.

When Oscar DLH was fighting at 130lbs he was dropped by average fighters in consecutive fights. He moved up through the weights and has always shown sturdy whiskers, big punchers like Mosley, Trinidad, Ruelas were not able to drop him. And i can go on and on with similar examples. Fighters get dropped it happens, but we really need to differentiate between being chinny and being just vulnerable. Vulnerable is what Bellew is he has defensive issues. Sometimes you become reckless, get caught between shots but with experience you avoid it happening.

The weight is a good point. I think too many fighters are campaigning at a weight which is not natural for them. Some fighers just boil down to the lowest weight they can make because they can rehydrate after the weigh in, without knowing the concept of "your best fighting weight". We've seen this far to many times, one of the reasons is because fighters are training for too long and not fighting enough. A 10/12 week camp means some fighters reach their peak 2 or 3 times and have to hold back.

 

You can talk about bellows weight and chin, i just dont think he's that good to be honest. carries a bit of power though which may take him a bit further

Don't play the poor Welshman card. The fact is the English probably consider themselves more bryidh than anything so follow British fighter, whereas the scots and the welsh as a rule will support anyone over the English, so let's not have this bollocks any more.
Bellew is still in the early days of his career and has the commonwealth belt. The guy can box, and is certainly not chinny, although it seems that you only need to get put in your arse once and morons like rob will give you that label any way. IMHO bellew will end up at cruiser.

 

Yeah but those 2 knockdowns where he was 'clipped' dont mean he has a poor chin. Anyone can get knocked down when off balance, look at abraham vs dirrel. Its how you react that shows the strength of your chin. And even after that massive kncokdown v mckensie, which would have stopped most, he went on to win every 1 of the remaining rounds. Im not saying hes perfect but he improved quite a bit from the ajisafe fight and can carry on improving. And i still think its far too early to say his chin will hold himback in any way

The problem for you "big dunk"'is that you have pushed the chinny agenda too far and you don't feel like you can make a u turn, just admit it, you might be wrong. These are big guys taking big shots. It's amazing really that we don't see more knockdowns
