No, no ko..if there was ever a negative, defensive type that would survive, and most likely lose a close decision to Foster, it would be Maxim...Pierre Fourie had nothing on Maxim. There aren't too many lightheavies that would have escaped getting embalmed by Foster, but the tough, negatively clever Maxim would have.

I think Maxim beats him on points, but i must admit, i am not a big Foster fan.

at light heavy though, it's really hard to pick against him. what maxim brought was a spoiler style, evasiveness and a damn fine jab. i see him losing but making foster look bad all night, while looking for the knockout blow that never comes

Foster UD. His heavier jab will make the difference.

Yes, Maxim would make Foster look bad..and survive, though that's about it. I always have like Maxim, but he wasn't a dynamic fighter..rather a spoiler, defensive type that would survive..and there's nothing wrong with that.

  7. bob foster was better fighter, i will pick by ud, but i would not be surprised if he wins by ko

Jorodz..knowing myself, I think I can honestly say that that's the way I would fight personally..that sort of approach, if I were a boxer.

Spoiler defensive types can still win matches.

And Maxim won more than his share. ANd imo, he did against quite a few guys who were better fighters and bigger hitters than Bob Foster. And i cant think of a fighter who beat Maxim (at least after about 1945), who i wouldnt confidently pick to beat Foster. In fact, Joey was so good defeinsively, that it is near impossible to imagine Foster even having much of a punchers chance. I am pretty confident in picking Maxim to beat Foster. I think i would get pretty good odds too.

hey, jokes aside the man did pretty damn well with his style. everyone fights a certain way, if you go against that style...THAT'S when you have problems (ie: freitas)

Yeah, it would have been possible..I agree. Maxim was a tough guy..just stopped once in his career by a dangerous man in Curtis Shepard. and he beat the guy in a rematch and no one ever stopped him again. He was capable of some good work and a win for him would have been possible for sure.

that's a bold but very interesting statement. my thoughts are that maxim would just fight too negatively to win rounds. if he opened up with that shotgun jab, he'd be vulnerable to foster's long 1-2 and the follow up left. but i like your point and it's worth noting that maxim is criminally underrated, usually seen more as an "opponent" against moore and robinson
