Yea, that's right. I had to do it. :D Rocky was an all time great, but I think Galento would be a dangerous fight for him. Two crouching, brawling sluggers who come forward with explosive power. I could see it going either way, to be honest. But somebody's getting knocked out. I'm certain of that.

    Thoughts?

  2. marciano would ko galento, i would say tko . but styles make fights and it would not be easy for rocky. i am pretty sure , galento would put the ass of marciano in the floor , for sure.

Both men would be bleeding before the fight gets stopped. I'm leaning towards Galento slightly, only because Rocky was somewhat of a slow starter, while Galento tried to end things quickly. If he smashes Rocky with that wild left hook early in the fight while Rocky is adapting, he'd probably win it. Rocky may survive one big left hook from Galento, but not two. Tough fight to call.

Rex Layne failed to make a close fight vs Marciano, and he didnt even cut the Rock in there bout. I dont see Two Ton Toney doing any better imo.

Hydraulix - I'm surprised you hold this view. What do you see in Marciano's career that leads you to believe that Marciano wouldn't be able to survive 2 hooks from Galento? I've studied Marciano thoroughly for many years and I see nothing to question Marciano's punch resistance to that extent. Yes he was floored very briefly by both JJW and Moore, both excellent, world class punchers, but didn't look seriously stunned in either instnce, and absorbed follow up shots from both without further discomfort.

With all respect, I really don't understand this (revisionist) questioning of Marciano's punch resistance.

Obviously, Galento was the biggest swinger since Duke Ellington, but I see little to suggest he troubles Marciano significantly.

Marciano in about 4 exciting but predictable rounds.

Having said all the above, I would definitely pay to see this one!

Would be a great fight while it lasts. Marciano is more durable than Joe Louis and I think he'd survive some surprise left hooks, and go on to absolutely destroy Galento. If it's the '52 Marciano then I expect a finish around the 6th, if it's the '55 Marciano then Galento would be pummeled for 10 or so rounds before being completed reduced to a fat sack of potatoes falling into the ropes, like he did against Louis.

Marciano would pummel him into oblivion, like he did to Don Cockell.

Trust me, but don't look at my avatar!

Sounds about right ... after three rounds Marciano's conditioning takes over .. he'd be warmed up as Galento starts to wear down ...

A short (for Marciano) ugly, messy bludgeoning with Marciano stopping Galento in 4 or 5. Rocky would really tee off on a far less elusive opponent than he customarily fought. Tony would land his share and maybe rock the Rock..but as has been noted already, Marciano could take it a bit better than Louis..the inevitable would occur..and Marciano would be landing his Sunday punches after discovering that he didn't have to go looking for Galento. Galento would look like he went through a head on collision after 4 rounds..he would have been bludgeoned to the canvas.

Marciano by KO. It'd be a fun fight to watch, but Rocky would win almost every exchange (which would pretty much be the entire round) and would KO Galento around the 5th or 6th round.

Brutal fight with Galento being hammered to a stoppage in the mid rounds. The Galento of the Nova fight was probably the best version of him, and he showed decent stamina then. Otherwise Galento might just quit after taking enough punishment as he did in the Baer fights.

  14. Finally marciano would win but who think that galento would not knock down rocky, he is very wrong.

This would be very very bad for Two Ton Tony - I do find Galento awkward to really guage so I really don't know whether I under rate him or not - only seen him against Louis and Baer - against Louis he really didn't get a look in at all? He really couldn't get close or get any punches off - and his hitting technique was woeful by the looks of it especially in close pulling behind the head levering his free hand thumb first up into the face etc - his punch rate was very low also - he was a macho man and like trying to rough up these famous world class fighters he'd be thumbing, butting, gauging, hitting behind the head but his timing was awful so he didn't often even get into range or into clinches where he could do that even?? When you watch Marciano's fights he's every punch he's landing is hurting his opponents and he's staggering them at least once in every round whereas Galento big moments seem to be vert few but he's a stubborn old boot - in the Louis fight Joe was very poised taking his time and in the Baer fight Maxie seemed to be as interested in matching Galento in the rough housing as he was in punching - Marciano would neither give Galento the luxury of taking his time or waste any of his efforts on out-fouling Galento or hamming it up for the crowds - he would be alway business letting his fists do the talking and any attempts by Galento at riling Marciano like he did Louis would be a big mistake - Marciano stoppage in about 9 rounds i'd guess at
