I was just wondering, Amateurs or Pro's here in ESB or just your opinion if you have never boxed before...

What hurts more? Eating hard counter shots to the face all night long, or tasting the canvas for a brief second from a shot you didn't see but get up each time?

Counters. You get all your momentum moving forward and committed to a punch and then you get a punch coming towards you. It hurts physically and mentally. Makes you not want to throw anymore

Depends how you get put down, straits to the face can be very painful.

Boxed amateur for a good 7 years. Was never properly put down (the one time I was down, I tripped over the guys leg...then got up to drop him from the first punch I landed...true story).

I took some very good counter shots for 3-4 consecutive rounds, whether I won or lost...they hurt a fair bit. But never was close to being properly knocked down or out.

From experience, it looks/and is a lot harder to knock someone down, or out in amateur...especially when you're trained to point score.

Briefly, like a shot you didn't see... Like Maidana from Ortiz, or JMM from Pacquiao.

Thing is, JMM not only tasted the canvas, grabbed ropes, almost tasted canvas again, went to the wrong corner, he also "ate" many many shots throughout the entire fight. He didn't just get hurt and proceed to parry and dodge all of Pac's shots. He was the way, way more hurt fighter in the entire fight. Sorry to ruin your horrible argument.

Am I the only one who thinks that this thread has been created, with a misleading poll, in order to prove a stupid point?

Why not create another "Marquez is better than Pac" thread and prove your gayness? Why play coy? Do other gay people find that attractive or something?

it's obviously made in reference to the pac-jmm fight. but the thing is, jmm did not just only hit the canvass for a brief second but also grabbed the ropes afterwards and went to the wrong corner after. and it doesn't stop there, jmm was also countered and hit with good shots all night and to say that jmm countered all night is misleading. pac has a superb defense that night that most of jmm's shots have either been blocked or avoided.

There's a reason why they give more points on knockdowns than to counters.:deal

    Yep the poll is misleading.

I'm waiting for him to say JMM and he did.

Why do *****s can't accept that JMM lost?

Or they're just ******ed to ****.

I had 15 amateur fights (14-1) and I have too say body shots hurt most of all the legal punches I've been hit with. Of the ones listed, it's the second option as I was never dropped. Though you dont really feel punches to the head very often(pain-wise) due to the adrenaline, it's more a brief white flash if you're caught cleanly.
