It is possible that he might have steered clear of Fred Fulton. Not a clear cut case by any means though.
you know you are talking about a special kind of fighter when it can be suggested that he ducked - maybe - a fighter that is ten inches taller and 40lbs heavier.
mcGrain, your'e right on the money. Greb would need a stepladder, to reach Fred Fulton. Harry at 5ft.8 was not a basketball player..If Fulton was the champ, Greb would have accomodated Fulton, for sure...
so, i think the consensus is "no", greb didn't duck anybody. the fact that he fought the fighters he DID fight pretty much nullifies any argument to the contrary a modern day example (sorry fellas) is oscar de la hoya. looking at his resume, it's a joke to say he ducked guys like winky wright. he fought ****ing everybody and just because there's a name or two that aren't on his ledger, doesn't mean he ducked. like greb, he just may not have gotten around to every contender or challenger out there in or around (and in greb's case well beyond) his weight class

No reason for the two to fight nayway, as it has been pointed out, theyre from different times. Doubt it that Greb was scared though, a special fighter the kind of which you just dont see anymore.
