Non if I can help it, the only 'sugar' I have is fruit sugar. Regular table sugar (sucrose) or pure glucose, maltodextrin etc and all that other crap I dont touch.

And this is coming from a proper sugar fiend back 2 years ago or so.

What benefit did you get from stopping eating it?

i still put raw sugar in my coffee. it's still sugar but i at least scrape a moral victory after eating less processed stuff. Aside from that, i avoid things with high fructose corn syrup and the like and eat fruit when i get a sweet tooth. my pantry is full of pineapple.

Every 10 years or so it seems that a new dietary "SUPER VILLIAN" is thrown to the forefront by the media. I remember when cutting fat out of your diet was the thing, then it was carbs, of course I'm not saying that surgar is good for you because its not especially in the form of High Fructose Corn Syrup(HFCS) but what I've decided to do in this new year is the "everything in moderation" approach and the "if your great Grandmother couldn't pronounce it, or had never heard of it, then stay away from it" I truly believe that previous generations had a better grip on diet in alot of respects. if you think about it obesity was not in epedemic proportions as it is today that in itself lowers so many risk factors of disease! they also didn't have all the processed/prepared foods that we have or the chemical preservatives that alot of those foods have and there was no McDonalds,Taco Bell,KFC,(all poison) on every corner what they did have was usually fresh and home cooked.

If you are serious about your training and nutrition, avoid any form of sugar, added sugar and white or refined foods. Regarding honey only opt for the untreated kind. Most commercial honey is heated to liquify it so it can be processed and stored easily. This heat turns honey's natural sugar into a fast releasing sugar more like glucose. Best sugar alternative is xylitol.

All concentrated sugar is fast releasing which causes a rapid increase in blood sugar levels. If not required by the body this is stored and the eventual result is fat. Most concentrated sugars do not contain any minerals and vitamins either.

I see. Well, the sugar I consume is from milk and fruit mainly which are the best sources.

You would be better off eating none at all. The sugars that you get out of consuming whole foods is plenty enough already. Go to Costco and buy a big box of Splenda. Or, Kirkland Brand Signature Sweetener. It's cheaper and the same stuff.

Excellent piece of advice right here.

I get all my honey from Sprouts. They have some really good stuff. The honey up in there is the real deal! I love that raw organic $h!t.

sweetners are worse in terms of the chemicals that are in them, such as aspartame. They may not have the calories but they have been linked with health problems.

I don't think a little sugar now and then is going to cause some insurmountable weight gain! As long as you are not crazy with the things you eat. I mean if you really go to town with anything, it is going to have an adverse effect on the body! it's simple science or common sense!
