:roll:Another thread with FH downplaying Tyson. Ali had one of the deepest resumes and many(not just Tyson) heavyweight champions would have their hands full against many of Ali's opponents. Tyson beats Norton(he freezes against punchers) and the Tyson of Holy 2 was more determined to win at first but then turned into a spoiled brat because he knew he could not beat Holyfield at that time. Foreman ko's pretty much any opponent that comes forward and isn't hard to hit and post-prison Mike was both of the above. Maybe not in 1 round(Shot Tyson toke bombs from Lewis and it toke 8 rounds to finally take him out) but definitely during rounds 3-5. Shavers probably drops Tyson and maybe stops him but Tyson had power too and his chin was better than Shaver's. I agree that Tyson takes more losses though he didn't have the longetivity Ali did. You are missing Tyson of the Berbick for example.

He may have been highlighting the major opposition. And those guys would give Post Prison Tyson hell.

I don't think Liston would be Louis. Particularly not a '64/65 Liston who was past-prime and for my buck not as good as the '58-60 version. What stylistically would give Louis so many problems that he'd be defeated?

Liston has reach and a good jab, but that would most probably be negated by Louis' speed and timing and his own jab, and his ability to catch and counter his opponents jab. I think Louis speed and punch precision would tell and Liston would be walking into power shots all night.

The problem with Foreman is mainly that it'd be a '47 version of Louis facing him and he was obviously past his best by then. Otherwise again, Louis feasted on come-forward guys. I know Foreman had size and strength over Louis, and possibly power in terms of his ability to take each others shots, but he was so hittable and there would be a huge disparity in technical skill, and a gulf too in speed and punch accuracy.

As for Frazier? Probably the same thing. And hell, Frazier is my favourite fighter of all-time and I'm saying that. Again, stylistically, I mean Louis feasted on fighters who came towards him because he had ample time to pick his punches and had guys walking into power shots. His timing was excellent so I don't think he'd have much trouble with Frazier's head-movement and he'd be catching right-hands all night on his way in.

The only way that this version of Williams, or Ken Norton beat Tyson, is with a stick while he sleeps.

Foreman would almost certainly have him as a trophy, given his decline.

Even a post prison Tyson has an excelent chance against Lyle.

    Ali record = 56-5

    Tyson record = 50-6

Guess of Tyson record with Ali comp = 48-13

Tyson would not have done so well if he'd been boxing during Ali's era. Out of Muhammad's best opponents,Tyson would have lost to Liston,Foreman and prime Holmes. He'd have beaten Norton, because of Ken's vulnerabilty to punchers. With Frazier,I can see twovery different scenarios - Tyson could leap on the slow starting Joe,and stop him, butif it goes beyond five rounds, then Frazier would turn it into a war of attrition which Tyson would lose before ten rounds were up.
