    Well.......
    HW BOUT - 15 rounds
    Who and why ?

Im a BIG fan of Max Schmeling, but I can see Spinks boxing cautiously, with his awkward style and jab, and winning by UD......But maybe Im wrong......
Anyway, I would love to read more opinions from you guys !

    :bbb:good

Schmeling KOs Spinks sometime in the "championship rounds" (11th - 15th).

Thanks......Personally, I can't see a KO/TKO in this fight, but anyway....in your opinion Unforgiven, who hit harder, Max or Larry Holmes ? I think its close...

I think Schmeling hits consistently harder than Holmes, with the right hand at least.
Holmes had a good right hand, but I think Schmeling could be more devastating with his.

Assuming the best Max turns up, I pick him on points...or late stoppage.

Looking at their records you would think that it could be argued either way, but Schmelings opponents always seem to have comented on his power.

His defensive counterpunching style combined with his power meant that his opponents were often left in a terible state. Steve Hamas had the world at his feet before he rematched Schmeling.

i wonder how the counter right hand would work against spinks. with his style, he was awkward and difficult to hit cleanly. however, holmes didn't have too much trouble finding him in the rematch. if spinks boxes a cautious, mobile fight as he did against cooney, he'd be tough to tag and might sneak a decision. however, if schmeling can time him and lure him into some traps, i pick schmeling by late round KO.

  8. i think that the spinks who faced holmes was very fast, he might take a decision. but schmeling might stop him late too.

I don´t know, Spinks was awkward, yes. But Schmeling was as awkward. When others would throw a jab, he would throw a lead right, he stood at an awkward angle towards you to land his right better, when you expected a left hook, you were hit with a right hand. He did like everything different than you should do it.

I pick Schmeling here, solid decision, perhaps late TKO or KO.

thats a good point. schmeling was hardly orthodox, or predictable, in all his fights. he would also study spinks and come well prepared. it could be an ugly fight but i would have to lean towards schmeling h2h

It is a very competitive fight but the best Schmeling has a good shot of stopping him late ...

Schemlling Wins.. More tested at heavy, hits harder, and more experienced... Spinks makes it close with his movement and awkward speed and combos, but he still loses by a late knockout.

I think it is a very competitive match ... Spinks could definitely win by outboxing him ... I just think Max might time him and hurt him with his right hand counters ..

Der Max by late stoppage. Nat Fleischer picked Schmeling's right hand as the best for a heavyweight...Very short and compact. He was somewhat inconsistent, but at his best i have him in the top 12 greatest heavyweights...I always pondered if Joe Louis was 33 years old , and Max Schmeling was 24 years old in their second fight in 1938, what would have been the result ? Would the Joe Louis of the Joe Walcott fights, beat the 24 year old prime Max Schmeling ? Age does matter, I believe...Louis and Max were 9 years apart
    What say you ?

well a past his prime schmeling beat a just entering his prime louis, so it's hard to argue that louis would have been guaranteed to win. schmeling had the plan (and as you said the right hand) to execute it perfectly. louis was at his best in the rematch, schmeling was not. plus, that plan wasn't going to work twice. as robotic as louis could be, blackburn was a damn fine strategist himself and he was vicious in rematches
