Interesting Vic. I normally have that the other way round, care to explain your thinking?

I'd like to hear it too. I watched this a few days ago and thought Tapia was robbed.

That is the general feeling that Tapia was robbed, I'd love just to see a contrasting viewpoint, because maybe it was not that bad of a decision after all.

Well, Paulie landed plenty of clean and power shots, especially with the right hook, Tapia threw more, more body punches and some uppers........close fight, but close rounds should go to the guy who landed more power shots.......so, in rounds 9,10, and 12 I gave to Ayala....decisive rounds for the fight in my opinion....

Just watched Eddie Perkins vs Ryu Sorimachi.

What a superb display, genuinely one of the best I have ever seen. And Perkins is one of the best technicians I have ever seen.

It would be unfair of me to try and analyse Perkins performance with just one viewing, he really was doing so much in there, in a tactical sense I mean. In a nutshell, he was tieing Ryu in knots with feints, setting traps with his left hand, creating angles using pivots, landing hard straight right and left hook counters, and so much more.

A real complete technician. He kept his left hand quite low but it was always in a position to block and counter-punch. He did a lot of leading Ryu in with a low left then leaning back away from Ryu's shots and flicking a counter jab into the Jap's face. He also picked superb right hand and left hook counters. Another thing he excelled at was parrying with his right hand. And the feinting, well it was amazing and very effective. Another thing I loved was the way he got down low and pivoted to change angle as Ryu opened up, it was just superb.

I felt Perkins bossed every second of the fight, he just had the measure of Ryu tactically and never let up.

Eddie Perkins is the GZA of the boxing world, you watch him on face value and you see a very good fighter, you analyse him a bit more and you appreciate him even more. His style is just so layered.

He's just such a lovely fighter to watch. I'll probably watch this again at some point and really try to break it down.

Also Ryu Sorimachi, that is a brilliant name, aint it?

I subjected myself to Eusebio Pedroza vs Bernard Taylor. Taylor circled frantically most of the fight and Pedroza seemed disinterested for about the first ten rounds. But it fascinated me for whatever reason. It was a close fight but Pedroza's strength seemed to take over in the championship rounds. I had it 9-6 for Pedroza.

    Tua 114 - 115 Ibeabuchi

Seemed to me Tua's corner was giving him duff advice when they were telling him to get in close all the time. The rounds fought at distance midway through were the rounds he won. When they fought in a phone box, Ibeabuchi had a very clear edge. Tremendous stuff.

    Hopkins-Mercado 1

    TE- 1,2,3,6,9,10,11,12
    SM- 4,5,7,8

    Hopkins 114-112 8 – 4

    *5 & 7 are 10-8 Mercado rounds because of kd’s

I scored this fight a week ago but here's my scorecard. I thought it had good inside fighting by both men and is well worth a watch. It was a great fight where I thought Hopkins won but you can't leave it in the hands of the judges when you go to your opponent's hometown. I thought Hopkins reached his prime in the rematch but would've beat him regardless. This is one of my newfound favs along with the rematch.

Yeh, I can't imagine how good it was. From what I have seen on the brief snippets of the Perkins vs Loi fights, Perkins was still the same technician but used more lateral movement in his game.

I can hardly begin to think how interesting Napoles vs Perkins was, it is one fight I wish there was footage of.

Perkins felt he won it, so it must have been close.
