    I really don't know!
It may actually be the biggest upset in boxing history, don't know many fights that even come close. Douglas was only the #1 contender because the rest had already been beaten to a pulp by Tyson. And James had lost to a few of Tysons victims already.
Everybody was talking about it back then... All over the world, topic of the day, week even!

It should be a really huge underdog... An totally undeserving fighter against someone like Pac or something.

none of those fights could compare to the tyson-douglas upset for me.
i still find it unbelievable, even now.

Yeah it would just have to be way out there. LIke say Pac takes the belt from Berto does some difficult defense, but onces where he is still clearly dominating, then decides to take a stay busy fight against Matthew Hatton and gets KOed in the early rounds. I mean something way out there that no one expects.

Have to agree with the rest of the guys. Anyone who even tries to compare recent fights as bigger than or equal to douglas vs. tyson obviously are young guys who don't really remember how much of a phenom Tyson really was. He was seemingly indestructible. Before you watched a Tyson fight the ONLY question in your mind was "I wonder how long this guy will last before tyson ko's him?" That was IT! no well maybe he could lose if..... No. Tyson losing! back in the 80's that whole concept was like you now saying Bill Gates will be bankrupt by 2012. Just no way that seemed possible. But having said all that, If I really stretched to even think of a fight that today would even compare in terms of it would truly Shake the world, i'd say Evander holyfield scoring a devestating KO and taking out Wladimir Klitschko. Not that I think that Wlad is G.O.A.T. I just think the Number of protestors who would protest even the making of that fight, much less have the faith that a damn near 50-year old Holyfield will win , would be comparable to the number of people who blew off the Douglas bout as an easy ko for tyson & a waste of time.

    Idiots.

    Tyson was invincible.

    He would have killed Douglas.

Hell, 50 year old Tyson would have killed Douglas.

By the way, Allan Green does have power. Mind you his last couple of showings were **** poor but as they say Power is the last to go. I got you Froch is a bad MOFO & all but this is the same guy who was hurt and got dropped by Jermain Taylor. In other words Froch isn't indestructible. If Green were confident & he landed repeated left hooks to froch's dome..Lights out. would that be likely? Hell no But can you conceive in your head the slight possiblity? yeah. Much like Tua fighting vitali klitschko, Major upset if Tua won but would it really have been a foreign, illogical concept to believe that Tua could drop Vitali if he landed repeated Left hooks? Again if you were a boxing expert back in 89 & you boldly predicted Douglas would beat tyson. The world would've laughed at you maybe in unison. lol I mean prior to the bout noone could remotely conceive even the possibility of Douglas going the full 12 much less ko'ing Tyson.

Ridiculous. Those aren't even in the same stratosphere as Douglas/Tyson. Few fights in history will ever compare to that given the circumstances. Tyson was the most feared man on the planet at the time and never even came close to losing a fight. A 35/1 underdog.
