2010 saw the likes of Abner Mares, Dmitry Pirog, Giovanni Segura and to a certain extent Brandon Rios make themselves know to boxing fans. Mares, Pirog and Rios were all prospects with Mares being most well-known whilst the other two were somewhat obscure. Yet they all had fights in 2011 that made boxing fans sit up and take notice of them. Segura was already a titleholder at the start of the year but was an unknown except to the most hardcore of fans. His win over Ivan Calderon changed all that. On the domestic scene, Ricky Burns burst onto the world stage with his excellent win over Roman Martinez. Jamie McDonnell came from nowhere to first beat Ian Napa for two domestic titles before heading over to France and picking up the European title. So which fighters will make their mark in 2011? Perhaps there's a titleholder or two who hasn't got the recognition they deserve and this will be their year? Maybe a prospect will fulfil his potential and make a mark on the world stage?
Yep Beating Montiel will be his coming of age...yet really he's already had his coming out Party against Vic...but beating Fernando will do so much good for him. The world awaits a brilliant fight and the making of a star. The man is sheer class in and out of ring. Shame his missus can't act same...but she's sexy so i let her off! :yep
I hear what you're saying about Donaire Slip. He's being off the radar since beating Vic yet still being highly rated by the boxing media. The Montiel fight could be the start of his road to super-stardom. If I were handling Lemieux, I'd like this year to be his final learning year. He's got Rubio next and if he comes through then a couple more top 10 guys before going for the titles in 2012. But they seem to want Martinez this year :think
Definitely Miguel Acosta for me. I think he'll beat Brandon Rios and follow it up with a win against Humberto Soto, with the possibility of a Linares fight before the end of the year(though most likely 2012). Rios has a style that matches up well with Acosta I think. He fights similarly to Antillion(albeit a little more refined) and will probably end up eating shots for as long as he can take them.
Pettyness. Looks to be type that likes a camera and sound of her own voice. Saying ''Fernando better not get injured''. ''Were gonna buy him a bubble to make sure he gets to Feb and not pull out''. That type of crap....leave the men to do the talking love.
Glen Foot will make a name at Brit level this year, maybes not get a title but he'll be hovering about at years end
