There's more chance of Hasim Rahman breaking out of a coffin.

 

That's what i mean, for a guy with the talent he has he shouldn't be off the radar so much. He has potential to be a really great fighter. He really is the real deal and has the star potential as well. I think don't think he's been promoted and guided properly unfortunately. I have seen him practising things in a real fight, he's that comfortable and talented. He also has the best punch in boxing right now, a half hook half uppercut left, reminiscent of Michael Spinks. He could also probabily go as far as 126lbs.

Hopefully he'll beat Montiel (sorry Dmac) which will be a tough fight. And then fight the winner of the bantam tourney. The worry is fighters who are not managed properly tend to lose interest and enthusiasm very quicky, as we saw with the likes of Ike Quartey. Hopefully the same won't happen to Donaire and he'll break through to be a bonafide star who makes relatively big purses and attracts big crowds for that weight.

Top 3:

1. Nonito Donaire (25-1)

Yes, he graces most P4P lists, is a 2-weight 'world' champion and holds dominating wins over Darchinyan and Sydorenko, but outside of the Philippines he isn't what you would describe as a 'star' (as Slip has already pointed out). In the shadow of a certain other Filipino fighter, he should get the win over the dangerous Montiel in February to, hopefully, set up a fight with the winner of the Showtime bantamweight tournament later in the year. A win there would see him emerge from the Pacman's shadow.

2. Roman Gonzalez (27-0)

A step up to light flyweight could finally see him in a defining fight. Became the first person to stop Francisco Rosas (who had taken Gonzalez close in 09 over 12 rounds) last year in just 2 rounds and looks very comfotable at the 108lbs limit. Hopefully he gets the opportunity to face the winner of Segura-Calderon II, but before that he could try to dethrone WBC champ Gilberto Keb Baas.

3. Amir Khan (24-1)

A routine win over Lamont Peterson in April won't exactly set the world alight, but a win over the Bradley-Alexander fight might just do that! The win over Maidana proved a lot for me. No longer was he a manufactured champion with a dodgy chin, but a world class fighter that belongs to be mentioned alongside the other champions in the division. The frailties to his game are still there for all to see, but another 9-10 months work on these problems and I think he is ready for either Bradley or Alexander.

Top 3 prospects to watch:

1. Kazuto Ioka (6-0)

I've been championing this Japense prospect for a while now and he gets his big opportunity against perennial WBC minimumweight Oleydong Sithsamerchai this February. I think it's came too soon for Ioka, but a win could see him make history and become a big name in Asian boxing.

2. Argenis Mendez (17-1)

Who? Well he fought on the undercard of Williams-Cintron and scored a majority decision over contender Martin Honorio and is now set to take on Cassius Baloyi in an IBF super featherweight eliminator. With Baloyi on the decline, Mendez should get the win. This then could lead to a title fight with Mzonke Fana, generally regarded (currently) as the number 1 in the division, later in the year. I feel he has the style to upset Fana and that would see this somewhat unknown fighter emerge...partially.

3. Froilan Saludar (10-0-1)

This year might not see him 'breakout', but he should gain the recognition of more hardcore fans by the year's end. This big punching flyweight from the Philippines turned pro less than 18 months ago, but has already amassed an unbeaten 11 fight record (the draw being a technical one due to a cut caused by a clash of heads), which includes scooping up the WBO Asia Pacific Youth bauble. He has been getting rave reviews in the Philippines and should hopefully position himself for a 'world' title assault in 2012.

The prospects I went with are a bit 'out there', instead of the usual suspects :yep:good
