What are the greatest single wins by British boxers against top opposition

    Can we list the best individual wins by British fighters and attempt to rank them?

    Ill start with a list but im sure people will be able to add and change the list but here is a preliminary idea

    1 Turpin - Robinson
    2 Lewis - Holyfield
    3 Honeyghan - Curry
    4 Fitzsimmons - Corbett
    5 Calzaghe - Hopkins
    6 Buchanan - Laguna
    7 Laing - Duran
    8 "kid" Lewis - Britton
    9 Berg - Kid Chocolate
    10 Stracey - Napoles


    Honourable mentions for Hatton Tszyu, Lewis Tyson, McGuigan Pedroza

    Any i have forgotten? Or majorly underrated/ overrated?

    Lewis's win over Holyfield is a bit overrated I think, and Froch's win might be too thinking about it.

    It's Lewis's wins over dangerous/avoided contenders that distinguish him from most British fighters rather than just picking an old, shot, faded (delete as appropriate) champion to feast on.

    Pretty good list though, I'd probably swap Lewis with Buchanan and leave as is, unless I think of something later.

    In that list, I'd have Berg-Kid Chocolate higher, Honeyghan-Curry above Lewis-Holyfield and probably Calzaghe-Hopkins down a spot. I'd also give Minter-Antuofermo a mention :good

    personally i would rate bergs win over canzoneri higher ,canzoneri actually had to carried back to his corner at the final bell one news paper said it was the worst beating of canzoneri career to date. also berg beat chocolate twice and for me the win over bill petrolle is hugely underrated. for me kid lewis and kid berg on your list should be higher than buchanan

    With regards to Berg and Kid Lewis its harder for me to gauge it obviously in comparison with more recent wins.

    I had forgotten about the Canzoneri win which is a very creditable win and could crack that top 10

    Benn Mcllellan probably deserves an honourable mention though i think the win itself is probably overrated in its individual context in terms of fighter v fighter but the manner in which he won and came back and the idea that Mcllellan was potentially the next big thing blinds peoples judgement of that fight. Its a similar win and ranks in the same way as Calzaghe Lacy imo

    I'm sure 'Cowboy' McCormack had a big win over an American at some point, could have been Henry Hank, I would have to check. It was a big win in its day.

    Also Fitzsimmons win over NP Jack Dempsey was another great win.

    jesus your right everybody seems to forget the fitzsimmons win the only draw back to it was that i think NP was 29 which in those days made him a veteran and by today's standards could he be placed in the ready to be taken category ? with all the extra punishment inflicted on the fighters in those days, so not in his prime ?
