Hypocritical how clay wouldn't fight in Vietnam on religious/race grounds or whatever.

But he's willing to take money from the corrupt Marcos regime which were killing civilians and starving them to fight in manilla for pay cheque.

that is your opinion and that of many others myself though i would go for louis as the best and as the one who done more for blacks in america, but then that is what makes boxing so intriguing we all have our own views

i agree louis was the best and he did more for black people than ali. Ali end of the day was doing it for his own benefit.

He was the most commercial person that is in fact giving himself to the fight man. When he sold 80% of his image rights that was selling himself to the white man

hmm let me think.. if i was a african-american and i was treated as a second rang person.. not being able to sit where i want in a bus and stuff like that.. what was happening in america in the 60ties..
and then also my country wasn't in danger or under attack. but was the agressor in a internal conflict in a small south asian country..
would i go and risk my life ???? **** it.. let the presidents and kings and all goverment people of the countries in the world fight there own wars..
i only fight for my loved ones.. so ali hypocrite ??? not in this matter

Muhammad Ali could have made this easier on everybody.
Our soldiers were the ones who were exploited.
He should have just made a deal with the U.S. Government, and went
on a damn exhibition tour with Howard Cosell shilling for him.

C'mon,,going with Bob Hope on a Vietnam tour,,,,,was it really that difficult.

OK , i'll bite. Whilst yourself and the threadstarter are doing a fine job of exposing Ali's 'reluctance' to fight in vietnam, could you both also acknowledge his part in securing the release of over 100 hostages in Iraq during Saddams reign? Im interested to hear both your takes on this

I love bob hope, greatest english comedian ever after chaplin and laurel, but he never did anything like this.
