good thread and i'm trying to think if there's any big ones that haven't been said on here... liston v ali 1, 2 comes to mind
victor ortiz in a moment of weakness he quit like a ***** and then he had the nerve to say "im too young to be hit like this, i'm not taking shot like this for nobody" atsch also lets not forget vitali klitschkos disgraceful quitage against byrd, byrd walked him down ate everything he had to give and banged his body hard to the point where he destroyed his shoulder, vitklit went on to quit and say some bull**** on the mic in polish or whatever the **** language he speaks.
Golota Tyson and Golota Grant This is the category when Golota is ATG plus two early KTFO's in title fights with Lewis and Brewster, yes Golota is ATG early quiter. Well some kind of "early finisher"
I watched the fight live and I was cheering for Byrd, as he was doing better than expected and I have a soft spot for the underdog. Vitali was not blowing him out of the ring early, like everyone else up to that point, but he was clearly ahead. Byrd did well defensively but hardly landed a shot. If what you say is true, how did the American commentators completely miss this? They had Vitali up by a large margin.
Has to be Duran. Nothing was even wrong with the guy. Tyson against Holyfield would be an honorable mention.
Whoever said McCall quit against Lewis is an idiot. He wasn't mentally capable of quitting, judging by the state of him I'm surprised he managed to dress himself on the day of the fight. The Commissioner that sanctioned the fight should have been sacked immediately. Even with all that he still took plenty of bombs with a smile on his face before Mills Lane stopped it..... and really it should have been a DQ rather than a stoppage on his record.
don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but dirrell against abraham, was a strange quit and disgracefull. Abraham was applying the pressure, dirrell didn't like it and when abraham hit dirrell when down, andre saw it as a great opportunity to act hurt and quit, yet still get the win.
if you are in a fight and one of the biggest p4p punchers in the sport is teeing off on you, are you going to mentally rifle through the rulebook while you're down and say "hey, i'm going to play dead right now and thus, abraham will be dq'd!" when people say this type of **** it makes me wonder if they've ever been hit in their lives ever
You can be the world's biggest hitter, but unless you hit clean, you wont do any damage. Abraham's shot was a powder puff shot compared to what he could have done, he barely touched dirrell. Everything i've seen from dirrell shows me that, as far as boxers go, he's a drama queen. All that crying **** was an act as well. The guy took the easy way out.
