So because he didn't have quite the handspeed of his 80's self, that means he was slow?

If that's your criteria for speed, there must not be a lot of people you consider fast

    :good

No. He was inconsistent about his speed. he didn't always show it. and in 96 he certainly wasn't fast.

I agree. Tyson was literally loading up and throwing one bomb at a time. Holyfields chin proved great....but would Lyles?

Never thought id say this, but i agree with you (for once)
Also i dont feel Shavers was that good a finisher whereas Tyson one of the deadliest in the sport.

    '96 Tyson TKO4 '76 Lyle.

His advantages in handspeed, power, chin & durability would be valuable in this crude slugfest.

  6. wrong, lyle 76 ha better chin than tyson96, lyle took shots from shavers and foreman, tyson was ko by holyfield. lyle was bigger and probably stronger too. the hitting power was close, because this version of mike was not very fast like he was in 1986-88, the hitting power of tyson was principally from speed. lyle was more durable.

    Bull****.
Tyson was stopped on his FEET by Holyfield, because Holyfield didnt hard enough to knock him down. Tyson was more exhausted than anything and not fighting back which is why the fight was stopped and counted as a TKO not a KO (THeres a difference)

  8. 1:Talk with respect.
2: tyson was stopped because evander would have killed him, simple.
lyle 76, had better chin than tyson96, and x 4 more heart, it is a fact,

    1. You asking me to talk with respect is like pot calling kettle black
    2. Tyson was stopped because he wasnt fighting back and was exhausted and beaten, Holyfield was throwing everything including the kitchen sink but wasnt Knocking Tyson down, you said earlier it was a KO, whcih it wasnt, it was a TKO, Knocking someone out and stopping someone because theyre not fighting back is two totally different things.

Lyle knocked down George who happens to be your mancrush......So that makes him the biggest puncher ever behind Foreman.:rofl

Holy, Lewis, Tyson would all walk through Lyle.

Post prime Tyson probably knocks him out relatively early.

    Tyson destroys Lyle.

His handspeed and power were still top notch in the 96. Watch how he completely destroyed the same Bruno that gave Lewis trouble. People talk about how Mathis troubled Tyson, but the finishing 4-punch combination, including a double uppercut, was a rare and natural flowing combination that reminds me of his peak years. Yes, he looked awkward in the first round, but then he also lost the first round against Tubbs.

Lyle on the other hand, never managed to knockout a live contender in his entire career. And now he's going to war with one of the hardest punchers in the history of the sport with a great beard to boot?

Holyfield had a brilliant gameplan, the perfect gameplan really, and he still took BOMBS. If Evander had anything less than an iron chin, he would not have beaten Tyson. Watch Lyle-Foreman and see how slow their punches are compared to Tyson's. Watch Lyle-Ali and see how a single right hand from someone not known for his power completely took Lyle out of the fight. Etc, etc. Tyson by TKO.

Ive always said this that Holyfield fought the perfect fight to beat Tyson, and he also had a great chin as well.

But some people still try to ridicule Tyson by saying XYZ will beat him because Holyfield did so. (Mainly Klit fans)

Love your thread on the debunking. The only real claim to the Lewis maneuvering is the possibility of the "unfair" contract that King offered him on top of the $13 million.

Do you believe Holyfield defeats Tyson in 1991? Prime for prime, even?
