Here is Why Boxing is Now a Dying Sport

i'm sorry, boxing is not dying by a fighter actually fighting fighters in his division instead of retiring for a year then coming back and fighting one of them.

 

No, only to *******s boxing is dying because one coward doesn't want to face a probably PED user.

Boxing's not dying. Pacquiao has probably sold more PPVs in a 5 fight sequence than anyone in history outside of Mike Tyson and De La Hoya. Mayweather would've done similar had he not retired.

 

Anyone who says Boxing is dying, is quite OBVIOUSLY not a boxing fan. This last year alone we had some amazing fights, without the Mayweather vs Pacquiao megafight. Although I would love to see it soon.

We don't know **** because fights aren't done on paper, they are done in the ring. For all we know may'be Floyd would have gotten KO'd. It's all a matter of opinion because for whatever reason Floyd vs Cotto/Margarito/Williams, etc. never happened when they should have.

 

Don't even say Mayweather ducked, Cotto and Margarito, he wanted to fight them, He wanted to get paid 10 Million each for Cotto, and Margarito, but Bob Arum said 7 Million vs Cotto, and 8 million vs Margarito. Bob Arum owed money to Mayweather(Judah/Baldomir fights), Mayweather asked 20 Million for a fight vs Dela Hoya, but typical Bob Arum said no once again, and that forced Mayweather to buy out hes contract for $750,000. Then made the fight against Dela Hoya, and he cashed in about 40 Million.

 

Doesn't matter, if he ducked or they ducked or whatever the story is. They didn't fight and that hurts the fighters' legacy, that hurts the fans, and just hurts everybody involved in the world of boxing.

 

Boxing is dying IN THE USA whilst it is flourishing in Europe, Asia and elsewhere.

Floyd is the Talisman of US Boxing and sadly it could suffer EVEN MORE due to his reluctance to give 100% into the Sport he "wants to clean-up".

I truly believe US Boxing would get the massive lift it needs if Mayweather fought and beat Pacquiao ......... it's a big ask but we all know it would be biggest Television and Internet hit in the history of the sport ......... he could inspire future generations but it just doesn't look like happening which is a shame.

Sadly your hero will be eclipsed by the little pinoy phenom who will himself reach out and inspire future generations all across Asia.

It's not? You're right seeing how PPV sales are an accurate representation on the state of the sport throughout the century and it's decline in popularity seeing how PPV buy's weren't big until the 90s. And hardly even then.

It is losing popularity outside of the hardcore fan, and that's all due to the fact that it's all PPVs. There's almost no big name exposure on cable TV that the majority of Americans can watch and follow.

I hope the sport rebounds but because of the corrupt system of boxing promoters and fighters wanting the bigger paycheck it never will.

 

As long as there are popular and skilled fighters like Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather today, De La Hoya, Tyson, Sugar Ray Leonard before them, casual fans will always pay to see the sport. The fact there isn't much exposure for boxing in the mainstream and yet it's stll able to attract the kind of PPV numbers Pac and Money have done lately is proof the sport is is easily surviving.

 

Boxing in the uk is doing great lot's of great fighters coming through the ranks and boxing club membership is up alot on what it was 5 years ago........ boxing is'nt dying it's just in a transitional period especially in the u.s.

 

If Both Pac & Floyd dropped dead today The actual "Sport" of boxing could give 2 ****'s.
A traditional ten count each & then move on...

Life waits for none, Don't fool yourself this Sport has over come the loss of fighters above both. This fight is defo nothing compared to it's kid hype.
