It was a great first fight and real close so why did it never happend?! Just curious if anybody knows the reason or has some knowledge on this...:huh
No need for one. Media consensus was that Marquez won, if not as wide as the scores indicated. Both he and Barrera used the fight to try to land Pacquiao. Barrera succeeded on the rematch angle, was beaten clearly by Pacquiao, while JMM schooled Juarez in the interim. This set up JMM-Pacquiao 2, which a majority thought Marquez actually won. Barrera's decisive defeat to Pacquiao and Marquez actually rekindling his rivalry with Manny by losing by one point distanced the two. A rematch at no point made sense.
Just a guess but Barrara knew he couldn't beat Marquez at that stage in his career while Marquez was made to look bad versus an old practically shot Barrera. Maybe?
I would say they were both in pretty good form at that time and Barrera would have been very competitive in a rematch, I think JMM ran with a win over Barrera and never looked back.
JMM,Berto,Bradley are all available buddy. :deal Nobody wants to see Mosley/Pac. Pac is the biggest cherry picker right now.
GBP and JMM wanted to do it but Mab didn't. He felt that why even bother if he was going to get robbed again. Also he wanted a bigger money fight with Pacman and a chance to redeem his embarrassing blemish of getting outclassed and destroyed by Pac years earlier.
Congratulations, very seldom do you post anything of truth and quality. For those of you who are not educated on the MAB-GBP split........ MAB was already at odds with GBP even before MAB and JMM fought. MAB did'nt like it that GBP set him up to fight Marquez to begin with. MAB really wanted to go straight for a Pacquiao rematch without having GBP have set him the pressure of GBP setting up an in-house money fight billed as an eliminator, the winner getting Pacquiao. MAB already did'nt like having to face Marquez, and when GBP did'nt set up for him what they had done in the first Juarez fight.......he was crying robbery when the ringside press was almost unanimous for JMM having won it clearly. Lets not kid ourselves, MAB left GBP because he was'nt gettting the favorable treatment he demanded. When MAB lost to Pacquiao again, he knew that it would be JMM be chosen to be matched up in big fights, and he would get the leftovers. .....in that situation I dont blame MAB for leaving.... .....but throwing tantrums and going out kicking and screaming and making public that he was treated unfairly.atsch .....once again, MAB showed his true colors.
