Who do you rank higher in all-time p4p terms?

Because, some argentinians thinks he is better than Jofre.....but maybe they are biased, its like the discussion Maradona vs Pelé....

    Whats your opinion ?

    Thoughts please guys !

I believe Monzon was just slightly the better of the two, all things considered.

I wouldn't say Monzon by a long long way.......I think its close...

    Monzon - good wins :
    Benvenuti 2 x
    Griffith 2x (past prime)
    Bennie Briscoe
    Valdez 2x (very good wins)

I don't rate Napoles too highly for Monzon because of the weight and size disparity.

    Good wins- Jofre

    Ernesto Miranda 2 x
    Jose Medel 2 x
    Piero Rollo
    Johnny Caldwell
    Caraballo

    Featherweight

    Legra
    Saldivar (past prime)

I think Monzon fought better competition, BUT I think Éder had much better skills....So, its close.......in my opinion
Anyway, thanks DonBoxer and El Bujia......I would love to read more opinions.....Thanks !

Jofre gets point for the comeback at Featherweight. Otherwise Monzon's Middleweight opposition was superior to Jofre's Bantamweight opposition minus Harada (who I believe he got narrowly the better of in the rematch). It's obvious they were of a similar class, though. Not much in it, either way. Both were very sound technical fighters. Flat-footed, strong base, Jofre more of the classic boxer-puncher mold (although he often fought out of a sort of crouch as well) and Monzon more laid back and subtle in approach.

My pick comes down to which fighter I'd lay it all on the line for against the field, and the answer in this one is Monzon. He's a fighter I have supreme confidence would hold his own against most any other in history at his peak fighting weight. The same is true for Jofre, of course, I just think an upset loss is a bit more likely to find its way to him than Monzon.

Vic, your recent footage of Jofre has raised his standing in my eyes (not that it wasn't high already). Before, I had only seen him against Medel and Harada, and I was always pretty certain that the Harada efforts weren't his very best. I had heard about weight issues and certainly Harada's style was difficult. But I was very impressed with the footage you uncovered.
Having said all that, I still favor Monzon ever so slightly. Monzon wasn't as aestheically pleasing, but the guy just never lost (except early in his career). I can't say more or better than what El Bujia stated. Monzon utilized that height and reach to the utmost. Jofre wanted to lean in alot and I feel strongly that it cost him decisions against Harada.

Jofre was great, like a mini Joe Louis. But I go with Monzon. Just so efficient. I like efficiency.

btw. Pelé ranks as number one quite clearly IMO.

The inscrutable Monzon was the best, but that's no disgrace. Jofre is still way up there as a great.

Cold efficiency and effectiveness over anything else IMO.

There was something almost Germanic with Monzon. A Latin fighter isn't supposed to be so ruthlessly cold and calculating..so unemotional and controlled.
