I'm sticking with Fedor. No doubt, Overeem has come a long way in the past three years, but he was never in the top tier of Pride for a reason... his ground game is horse ****. Overeem's striking is awesome, having a current k-1 belt while fighting MMA is ballsy and shoud be recognized. But MMA is still about having a well rounded game and Fedor has got that covered. His ground game is fine. It's not great, but it is certainly good enough to survive against most. His weak cardio and mental state are more to blame for his losses in Pride.
Just hope StrikeForce dose this right...A Big Push on this. I am going out there and will pick J.B. No big reason, just think he might run the table...Over the years he is always close.
i think y'all underestimate fedor...christ, cant believe im saying that..but yup, he got beat....by a guy he had flattened..he made an uncharacteristic error, he wasnt badly beaten up, he hasnt shown much sign of ageing badly in the cage/ring..he always took a lot to give more...fedor will regain his ice cold analytical composure and emerge a victorious atg legend.....and retire..hopefully..having nothing else to prove
I agree. He has a bully mentality and loves hard fights but he is a front runner. Reem now has the chance in this tournie to show how much he has improved his cardio and how much stronger he is mentally.
Dunno fella, he still beats Silva........perhaps he is not the monster of 2003, 2004 and 2005 but still. His lost to Werdum was due to a specific circumstance where he got sloppy rather than lack of fighting abilty compared to Brock loss to Cain. Fedor is still number 2 in the world, unless Werdum losses to someone or Fedor himself losses again.
I'm a big Fedor fan but he's not even number two in Strikeforce at the moment. He has to rank behind Overeem and the guy that just submitted him - Werdum.
I think Fedor beats all of the other guys except of Overeem. If Fedor can survive the first couple of minutes against Overeem, I would favor him, but this will be hard... as I said several times: I think Overeem is now in his very prime (roided or not...) where Fedor is past it and is slowing down.
